Privacy Policy

Petnip.com., LLC, aka televets.com (“we” or “us”) is committed to protecting the personal information of visitors to, and users of, our website www.televets.com (“our site”).

This Policy describes how we collect information from users of our site, the type of personal information we collect and what we will use that information for. This Policy applies to all users of our site.

We will only use such information that we collect about the person using our site (“you”) in the manner set out in this Policy.

By using our site, you acknowledge that you have read this Policy and you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as set out in this Policy. This Policy is incorporated into the terms of use for our site (Terms of Use).

For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 the data controller is Petnip.com LLC, of 815-A Brazos, #346, Austin, Texas 78701-9996, USA.

We reserve the right to amend, vary and/or to withdraw this Policy from time to time. In the event of any changes being made to this Policy we will notify you of them; however we shall be responsible for determining the appropriate form that such notification should take.

1. Collection of Personal Information

  1. Personal information is any information about you from which you can be identified, such as your name, email address and/or other identifying information.
  2. We collect personal information provided by you when you register for our services and/or when you contact us in writing and/or by email or telephone and/or via our site for information.
  3. We may collect and process the following data about you:
    1. information that you provide by filling in forms on our site. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our services, registering pets, posting questions on our site or requesting further information and/or services. We may also ask you for information when you contact us in writing and/or by email or telephone for information and when you report a problem with our site;
    2. if you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence;
    3. details of services you obtain via our site and any requests for services made by you; and
    4. details of your visits to our site and the resources that you access.
  4. We reserve the right to add questions posted by users to our Pet Questions. By using the Service and posting a question, you authorize us to later edit your question and the corresponding Advice in such a way as to remove personal details, and add it to our Question Archive.
  5. We may also collect information about your use of our site when you access and browse our site, as described in paragraph 2 below.

2. Collection and Use of Tracking Information

  1. We may collect information about your computer including, where available, your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration and reporting purposes.
  2. We may also obtain information about your general Internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer.
  3. A “cookie” is a small data file containing information that is written to a user’s hard drive by a web server and used to track the pages visited. Cookies help us to improve our site and to deliver a better and more personalized service. Any information collected in this way will be used:
    1. to enhance your use of our site by storing information about your preferences, so allowing us to customize our site according to your individual interests;
    2. to track traffic patterns on our site; and
    3. to provide reports for our internal use and/or to provide feedback to the advisors who use our site as a venue for the provision of advice and to companies, firms and organizations who have contracted with us to include content on our site (“Content Providers”) in order to personalize the content of our site for you.
  4. You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. If you select this setting, however, you may be unable to access certain parts of our site. Please note that our Content Providers may also use cookies, over which we have no control.

3. Use of Personal Information

We will use the personal information you provide to us for the following purposes:

  1. to fulfill any requests by you for the provision of services and/or information by us;
  2. to ensure that content on our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and your computer;
  3. for any purpose which reasonably arises out of and/or in connection with your use of our site;
  4. to notify you about any important changes or developments to our site or our business;
  5. to allow you to participate in interactive features of our services, when you choose to do so;
  6. on occasion, to verify the personal information (or any part of it) that you have provided. We reserve the right to request additional personal information from you and to undertake checks with appropriate third parties for this purpose;
  7. where you are an existing customer, to let you know via email or other electronic means about other services and products that we offer which may be of interest to you. If you change your mind about being contacted in the future please let us know by emailing us at support@televets.com. Please include “Privacy & Security Policy – unsubscribe me” in the subject line;
  8. on occasion, to contact you, either by email or other means, to ask you to provide feedback regarding various aspects of the services provided to you via our site. Your feedback will be used for both internal purposes and to provide feedback to our advisors and to Content Providers. We will not disclose that you are the source of any anecdotal feedback unless you consent to this. You can choose not to be contacted in this way by emailing us at support@televets.com. Please include “Privacy & Security Policy – do not contact me” in the subject line.

4. Disclosure of Personal Information

  1. We will not sell or hire the personal information we collect about you to any third parties. We do, however, reserve the right to disclose your personal information to certain third parties as follows:
    1. to any sub-contractors we may engage to assist us in operating our site;
    2. to appropriate third parties for the purposes of verifying your personal information;
    3. where disclosure is necessary (i) in response to a subpoena, court order or government request or request by any other appropriate authority; (ii) for the purposes of taking legal action to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend legal claims against us; (iii) to investigate, prevent and/or take other action in connection with possible illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any persons; (iv) in order to enforce or apply, or in respect of any violations of, our website terms of use and/or terms and conditions of supply of services and other agreements; (iv) to protect our rights, property or safety, or those of our customers, or others; or as otherwise required and/or permitted by law or regulation. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction;
    4. if our business enters into a joint venture with or is sold to or merged with another business entity, or all or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, your information may be disclosed to our new business partners or owners, and personal data held by us about our customers will be one of the transferred assets;
    5. if you are an existing customer, and where we permit selected third parties to use your data, we will use reasonable endeavors to try to ensure that they only contact you by electronic means (emails or SMS) where you have consented to this;
  2. If you do not want us to pass your details on to third parties for marketing purposes, please indicate this when your permission is requested for such disclosure.
  3. Where you have consented to disclosure to third parties (including but not limited to Content Providers) whose products or services we believe may be of interest to you but subsequently change your mind about being contacted please notify us by emailing us at support@televets.com. Please include “Privacy & Security Policy – do not disclose personal information” in the subject line.
  4. The information you provide to us may be accessed by or given to our staff or agents working outside the USA and third parties some of whom may be located in the UK who act for us for the purpose set out in this Policy or for other purposes approved by us. Those persons process information and provide support services on our behalf.
  5. Whilst we do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our advertisers and Content Providers, we may provide them with aggregate information about the users of our site. We may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they wish to target (for example, in a specific age group or area). We may make use of the personal data we have collected from you to enable us to comply with our advertisers’ wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience.

5. Storage of your Personal Information and Data Retention

  1. We have organizational measures in place which are designed to protect your personal information. However no on-line system is impenetrable and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information on-line. We will use reasonable measures to protect your personal information from alteration, loss or misuse. We will retain your information for a reasonable period or for so long as the law requires. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorized access.
  2. The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the United States of America (USA). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the USA who work for us (including, but not limited to, our advisors and/or or a Content Provider). Such staff may be engaged in, amongst other things, the provision of services to you and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing and/or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy.
  3. All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Any payment transactions will be encrypted using SSL technology. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) software encrypts data to enable the transmission of personal information via the Internet. We will not be responsible for any personal information you disclose to third parties that do not use. SSL software and/or do not offer a secure way to transmit information. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone. Please ensure that you log off completely when using a shared computer to access any of our services.
  4. All and any payments for any services you receive via our site will be payable via the PayPal Pro system. As such we shall not at any time have access to your debit/credit bank account details. We do not, therefore, accept any responsibility for the security of any financial information you disclose via the PayPal system.

6. Accessing and Updating

You are entitled to see the information we hold about you and you may ask us to make any necessary changes to ensure that it is accurate and kept up to date. If you wish to do this please contact us by emailing us at support@televets.com. We are entitled by law to charge a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you. If you inform us in writing of any inaccuracies we will use reasonable endeavors to correct the information we hold about you.

7. Links to Other Sites and Materials Provided by Third Parties

  1. Our site may from time to time contain links to and from the websites of other parties. We shall endeavor to ensure that links to other websites are clearly signposted. This Policy does not apply to any third parties over whom we have no control or to other websites, including but not limited to, those listed in our ‘Links’ section. We recommend that you review any privacy policies belonging to any third party websites before you submit any personal data to those websites.
  2. We will not be liable in any way whatsoever and we make no representations, warranties, recommendations or endorsements in connection with the availability of any third party websites or any content, advertising, products or services on or available from such third party websites. If you decide to access any of the third party websites linked to our site you do so at your own risk.

8. Destruction of Personal Information

Manual destruction of files, records and computer printouts containing sensitive data and confidential information are carried out in a secure way by internal shredding. Personal information provided by electronic means shall be expunged from our systems on a regular basis.
