I have a 10 year old Brittany Spaniel and he has been licking his right hind leg since August. We have gone to the vet and was given bitter apple (he licked it off), Prednisone (no help) and even wrapped his leg with gauze and covered it with deodorant to deter him from licking. Nothing works. He has now licked a sore on his leg. The vet says that he does this for similar reasons humans bite their nails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm afraid he's going to lick his leg off. Thank you for your time.

Serious Infection
Posted on 2007/12/06 by KatiWe have recently moved house, my cat Tum went missing for 3 weeks, we fortunately found him, however he had a slight cut to his face. Since then this has become hugely infected, and the infection has spread to lesions across his entire body. He has had the abcess on his face operated on three times in the last 4 weeks by the vet and been prescribed a range of antibiotics to try and combat the infection. His body condition has hugely deteriated and has been with te vet on a drip for the last 48 hours. he has been tested for leuakemia and feline diseases, but to no avail. Are there any other options available to us or any other possible diagnosies. If you require any...

Excessive Grooming
Posted on 2008/01/29 by UserMy indoor cat is licking most of the hair off her hind quarters. She is also scratching herself to the point of scabbing and bleeding. She does have a few fleas - not excessive - but I'm hesitant to give her a flea treatment because of the open wounds. What is going on?

Post surgery infection on Paws
Posted on 2008/03/07 by GayleI had my pet declawed - When he came home his wounds were open and seeping blood/puss -He was returned to the vet and restiched (at no cost to me) - He still is in pain, and has infected paws - They are hot, swollen, and painfull to him... Is there any at home recomendations for drawing out the infection? I think the vet botched this one up so, how should I handle the vet if he is to go back in for treatment?

On the left side of my Boston Terriers butt hole he had like an red egg sized lump. This morning when I work up it was an open sore. He has been the same high energy dog all yesterday and this morning. I gave him two amoxicillin pills (100mg) yesterday because I thought it was a bug bite. I'd be more concerned if he was "acting" sick or something, now the lump is smaller then it was yesterday so I think if I keep him on the anti-biotic he'll be OK.... what do you think?

Cracked skin on nose
Posted on 2008/06/12 by UserMy dog has rough, cracked skin on her nose. She doesn't burrow or rub at it, it doesn't seem to be bothering her, but I'm curious as to what it could be caused from.
