  • mouth drooling?

My degu has started to drool while eating. and he is having difficulty getting it in his mouth. I took him to a vet. He said the teeth are fine. not too long. his bottom lip looks a little swollen too. i recently brought home another degu (francois' brother had passed away) so i'm wondering if it's from fighting. how do I get chemicals out of his water so it doesn't get worse. should i worry.

  • postoperative site infection

On April 30, Jake went in to be neutered. When picking him up from the tech indicated that he may have experienced a reaction to latex and the skin adjacent to his incision had started to peel, they gave us animax to apply to the area. Five days later I discontinued use of the animax because he developed an intense "rash". The vet presribed prednisone and cephelaxin. He has now developed a PASTEURELLA MULTOCIDA infection. Very nasty looking, white center surrounded by heavy red whelted border. HOW SERIOUS IS THIS AND WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES? Co-workers are mentioning dead skin and surgery. CAN THAT BE A POSSIBILITY? Thank you.

  • help me help her

I have a outdoor cat that has a hole the size of a quarter one inch under her annis. It is packed with maggots and they were up her back and under her fur. I have washed her as much as I can but there must be 50 to a 100 that I cannot get to in the hole. Is there anything I can do to help this little cat. I do not have access to a vet and I cannot afford to drive her a long ways to get to one. Can you help me Please. I cannot watch her suffer with this if I can do anything to kill them or get them out of there. She is difficult to handle-of course but I will try if you can help her. Thank you-Mary

  • Dog keeps scratcing at wound

We recently discovered that my dog has flea allergies. We have put both of our dogs on Revolution, and have gotten rid of the fleas in our home. My dog still scratches a lot and has scratched so much on her neck that there is now a wound. This happened about a week ago. I clean it with hydrogen peroxide every few days. However, she keeps scratching at it and causes the scab to come off and bleed. I have tried tying a cloth bandage on her neck, but it always comes off after a few hours due to her biting at it. Do I need to take her to the vet for the doctor to look at it or is there something I can do at home to help her get well?

  • PERSISTANT SICKNESS

MY SIX YEAR OLD CHIUAHUA HAS DEVELOPED A JOWEL OVERNITE, SHE HAS RECENTLY BEEN TO THE DOCTOR BECAUSE SHE WAS COUGHING ALOT MY VET HAD SAID THAT SHE MAY HAVE DAMAGE TO HER THROAT DUE TO PULLING ON THE LEASH. WE HAVE ALWAYS USED A HARNESS BUT HAVE ONLY HAD HER FOR 3 YEARS. BEFORE THAT WE BROUGHT HER FOR HER PERSISTANT SCRATCHING WHICH THE VET SAID MIGHT BE AN ALLERGY. HE PERSCRIBED AN ANITI ALLERGETIC. THIS DIDNT REALLY WORK SIGNIFICANTLY. THE VET HAS BEEN GIVING US ALOT OF MAYBES AND HER CONDITON IS GETTING WORSE. WHAT COULD BE GOING ON? PLEASE HELP.
