Eye injury
Posted on 2008/09/30 by Amy HarfeldShe was scratched below the eye. The bottom lid is swollen and oozing. I am keeping it clean, treating with hydrogen peroxide and neosporin. She is also taking an antibiotic. I tried warm compresses last night. Should I continue in the same manner or do you recommend something else?

my pet was injuried at by the groomer
Posted on 2008/09/25 by DUSTIN MCFARLANDI took my dog into Petco, to be groomed yesterday morning. When we pick them up everything appeared fine, until closer inspection. I noticed my dogs eye was weeping a lot on one side, I called the groomer and she new which eye it was and said it happening a home? Later in the conversion she asked if was bleeding... I thought that was strange. I few hours later I realize he was excessively pawing his eye, thats when i know it happening at the groomers. Because I would have noticed it, he would have been doing it earlier at home. Upon closer in spection I noticed his brow and eye lid area is cut or scratched, I cant tell because of the crusting and weeping arounded the are ...

Now what do i do?
Posted on 2008/09/24 by UserI suppose this is pretty odd. My 5 month old lab got into the chicken pen two days ago. He killed 3 chickens and hurt two others. Of those, one had a puncture wound on its neck and was exhibiting signs of shock. After wound cleaning I applied Neosporin, caged her seperate from other hens in quiet warm place and hoped for the best. So far she is doing well and eating drinking etc. She is getting antibiotics through her water. The other chicken, well I guess this is weird. She had a gaping 2 inch long wound in the back of her neck fully exposing her neck muscles. Despite the significant damage, she was remarkable alert and responsive. I made the choice that I could not j ...

Dog keeps scratcing at wound
Posted on 2008/09/10 by kim andrewsWe recently discovered that my dog has flea allergies. We have put both of our dogs on Revolution, and have gotten rid of the fleas in our home. My dog still scratches a lot and has scratched so much on her neck that there is now a wound. This happened about a week ago. I clean it with hydrogen peroxide every few days. However, she keeps scratching at it and causes the scab to come off and bleed. I have tried tying a cloth bandage on her neck, but it always comes off after a few hours due to her biting at it. Do I need to take her to the vet for the doctor to look at it or is there something I can do at home to help her get well?

Still bleeding neutered 7 days ago
Posted on 2008/08/28 by UserWe had our kittens (born April 6) neutered a week ago. One is fine. The other looked red, raw, and literally a little inside out as soon as we got him home. I called the clinic right away and asked about it - they said he had been checked before discharge and that likely anything we were noticing was because he is light coloured. I was not so sure, but the next he had a scab (albeit large) where the incision had been and so we thought all was well (he was also totally himself, playing, eating, drinking etc.). Sunday he started to bleed a bit - we called the clinic who said to watch for a few hours and see if it stopped - they thought he likely pulled the incision open bec ...
