I have a 13 week old Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix who was diagnosed with diabetes Tuesday. He was placed on Vetsulin at 1 unit per day. He is only receiving a shot once per day. His sugar, after 3 days on insulin, registers on the urine test strips as over 2000. My vet does not know what to do at this point and neither do I. Any suggestions. Oh, he weighs about 2 pounds. He is eating good now but is still drinking an excessive amount of water and has very frequent urination.

My older cat (13) hindlegs look like he is paddling or trying to get away from something causing him a great deal of pain. It doesn't always seem to be the same side that hurts him. He turns his head around and bites himself and pulls out his hair. He then sits for a few minutes like he is in a trance but seem to respond when I call him or pet him. I had a blood test done a few weeks ago. They said he is ok except fro FIV. No kidney or liver infection. He did have 3 teeth pulled which was causing bad breath. (it is gone now.) One Dr said he could live several years but was gone when I picked him up. The one there said he might not live a year because of the...

Sick Kitten
Posted on 2009/11/07 by UserWe have a 7 month old male nuetered kitten who has recently stopped eating and cleaning himself and he is very lathargic. We have tried giving him 2 different kinds of dry food and 2 different kinds of wet food. We also took stool samples to the vet. When nothing helped we also took him to the vet and the vet game him a shot for nausea and anti inflammitory and also gave us an oral anti nausea medication to give him at home. He is still not looking any better and not eating but he is drinking water. We have 2 other cats that are doing fine. It looks like it hurts his teeth to eat but we have checked his teeth and they look fine. We are getting very worried about...

Cat is vomiting and pooping everywhere
Posted on 2009/11/07 by UserMy tabby cat is 12 years old. He vomits about three times/week on the carpet and defecates outside the room to his litter box (it's as though he's constipated and gets some of it out in the litter box, and then he squats to get the rest out (on our carpet!). We've had his thyroid and sugars tested - all fine. I know that he could have cancer or some sort of intestinal problems, but I don't know if I can afford to keep getting tests. I feel guilty about considering putting him down as we've had him since he's a kitten and he's still lovable (although he's lost weight and less spunky than he was in his younger days). Any other ideas to keep costs low?

Cat Throwing up
Posted on 2009/11/08 by UserMy 4 year old female cat has always thrown up her food now and again but recently its gotten more frequent from every few weeks to almost every day. ive changed her food from dry to wet food and she wont eat the wet food so put her back on dry food, most of the time it looks like unchewed food and bile but sometimes it looks like she's eaten some of her litter. she's an indoor cat and uses wood based litter. she doesnt seem to eat much and what she does eat she throws up again, she's thinner than most cats but theres alwasy food left in her bowl so she's not hungry. I'm worried that she might get thinner or malnourished. should i take her to the vet? how much would blood...

A horny dog How can get him to stop
Posted on 2009/11/12 by UserWe have a male dog that will not eat when our female dog is around. We lock him up in the crate to get some peace, but then he whines. We lock up our female and then he tries to get in with her. We know he can't impregnate her because she is a toy breed and he's a large breed. He went through my storm door to get to her. He pees all over my house and we heard whether he's neutered or not he will still keep humping. He even trie to hump our kids. What can we do?

Growling and gurgling stomach after spay
Posted on 2009/11/16 by UserMy 3 year old female dog was spayed a almost a month ago, about 2 weeks ago i noticed this really loud gurgling noise coming from her stomach. I thought it was because she hadn't been eating the same, but its been going on for two weeks now. It usually stops after she eats, but i know she ate her food twice yesterday. She acts like her usual self for the most part, just the growling and gurgling stomach, but she has been trying to eat more grass. Should i take her to the vet asap???

Maine Coon cat
Posted on 2009/11/16 by UserWe have a 13 year old male Maine Coon cat. He has been very healthy up until a week ago. We just recently bought another Maine Coon kitten (5 months old) and brought her home. Our older cat has been very lathargic, throwing up, and losing weight pretty rapidly. We are taking him to the vet today. Could the kitten have given anything to the other cat or is this something very serious?

Walking problems for a week
Posted on 2009/11/17 by UserI have a 8y/o Pekingnese and for the past week she has been having difficulty walking with her back legs. At first I just though she tweaked her back from jumping on and off the couch. Now she is better at times and then not good at other times (weird). Other symptoms are not eating, when she does walk back legs just going out from under her, hair falling out, after going outside or somtimes when petting her she just shakes/shivers bad. Any ideas on helping her?
