Leo is gagging with a slight gurggle but producing no vomit. He is also panting heavily. It has been going on for 5 days but is getting worse. Do you have any ideas of what it could be? And what treatment would you suggest?

Have I made my dog sick?
Posted on 2008/09/21 by UserI gave my dog a tiny bit (The size of a thumbnail) of a veggie patty. she has been sick with a staph infection (internal) and has been on antibiotics for a month. She is still losing weight. 9 lbs lost. she has a good appetite but is lethargic and has pale inner eyelids and gums. Vet said her RBC is now 15 and her albumin level is still high. Could that be caused from the bit of the veggie patty?

Possible Cancer in Cat: How to diagnose, treat?
Posted on 2008/09/14 by Gordon BearDear good people of Televets: Hoping you can help with a stunning development in my household: My beloved cat Wizard may have cancer. Here's the situation: Patient is neutered male cat, born to feral parents, 11 yr old, formerly in excellent health. Four symptoms all arising within the last two weeks: 1. Loss of interest in foods formerly favorites (but some appetite remains). 2. Less active, but by no means lethargic. 3. Drastic weight loss from 20 lb to 13 lb (loss of 35%). 4. Abdominal tumor the size of a plum, discovered via palpation and confirmed on x-rays two days ago. Also 5. CBC, chem 27 and T4 tests show what the vet yesterday called "numbers not helpful ...

need diagnosis
Posted on 2008/09/13 by UserYes. She her thyroid has been tested and was normal as well as kidney fubction. The only abnormalities in the basic workup were a low white and red count. She has also been seen vomiting a thick dark substance that resembles stool. Her vet thinks in could be blood from the lower GI tract.

need diagnosis
Posted on 2008/09/12 by UserI have been taking my 11 year old cat to the vet for the past month. She has lost a hird of her wieght in a year and is still losing. She has an appetite and gobbles her wet food. She has a UTI with blood and white cells in her urine. She has been on an antibiotic for three weeks. She also has a very low white and red blood cell count that is not improving. Her behavior has not really changed and she still acts friendly. We had a feline aids and leukemia test done and they were both negative. The vet suspects an ongoing disease process. Any suggestions? We don't have unlimited funds for diagnosis.

very sick
Posted on 2008/09/11 by Kristin HarrisMy cat has been sick for the past 2 1/2 weeks and she keeps getting worse. She has lost a bunch of weight, she is very weak, and she won't eat. I took her to the vet about 1 week ago and he didn't really know what was wrong with her. He said that her intestines were hard and he gave me some worm medicine just in case that's what is wrong with her. I gave her all the medicine and she has only gotten worse. I have been force feeding her milk so she can get some nourishment but she still won't eat and keeps getting worse. Do you have any idea what might be wrong with her?

Cat will not eat...vet doesn't know why...
Posted on 2008/09/08 by Sherry DanielsWhen I adopted my 12 year old cat, he was obese. He has lost 4.5 lbs, and refuses to eat. There have been several changes in his life in the past six months: new owner and home, packing and moving to another new home. The vet that I took him to found a lump on his thyroid, but can not seem to find a reason why the cat will not eat. Any suggestions?

My cat keeps making poses to go to the bathroom all over the house
Posted on 2008/09/06 by Cinda HortonSherbert keeps "posing" like he wants to go to the bathroom. He uses a litter box, and today, catching him trying to go pee/poop (I have no idea which), I immediately changed his litter box concerned that it might be full. Didn't help. He is posing everywhere. I must add, nothing has come out. No urine, no bms. I'm thinking may he might have a urinary tract issue - how immediate do i need to take action? It's Saturday night, can it wait to take him to the vet on Monday?? I"ve also noticed that he seems to be losing weight. He is on weight control food, don't know if that is why - he's been on the food for maybe 2 yrs, the weight loss is recent.

Help, My dog isnt well, and I need advice, THANK YOU
Posted on 2008/09/05 by UserHello, my German sheppards hasnt been eating the way he should be the last week, and he is having problems going to the bathroom, as in solids. He looks like he is in discomfort, and is starting to walk funny. his stool is small, and I think there might be worms, I actually saw a worm in his stool, but I am not sure if it was there or a visitor later. It looks like he has been digging alot lately outside, I wonder if he ate something from the ground, and now its playing havoc with him. I love my dog, he is 8 and my buddy, but he isnt doing well, and I am divorced and cant afford to take care of him if this is serious, its really killing me to watch him just get more miser ...

Loss of weight
Posted on 2008/08/31 by UserMy dog has began walking with my partner everyday while he works and has now lost a considerable amount of weight. She is now really boney. I would like to know weather her weight loss is from the increased exercise or something else. She has just finished being on heat.

My 13 year old dog has been throwing up although she has eaten next to nothing for the last few days. She is trembling and loosing control of her legs. Her nose is dry, and her coat is shedding. She is drinking a lot of water and then throwing it up.
