Urine & incontinence

  • We have an 8 year old female Bernese Mt. Dog who has has been diagnosed with both Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) and megaesophagus. We have questions that we believe are related to both conditions. Regarding her degenerative myelopathy, she has a difficulty controlling her bowels for some time and recently has been experiencing difficulties with controlling her bladder as well. The latter is much more of a problem than the former. Are you aware of any diapers for dogs that will deal with urination but not the bowel movements. Any diapers that caught the bowel movements would require significant trimming of for a ride her hind quarters which we would prefer not to do...

  • Pom urinates when excited

My male pomeranian 10 month old puppy is well trained. But everytime I come home he is so excited to see me he loses it and urinates. If I reprimand him, of course he urinates some more. Poor dog. Any ideas on how to stop this? (He got neutered 3 weeks ago, but this happened before and after the operation). Thanks, Charlie Okinawa, Japan

Spice is 15 years old. Just the past day or two, her eating and drinking have diminished. Today, she is having trouble standing, walks very slowly and occasionally loses her footing in her back legs. What's happening?

  • Is she in pain or suffering

My 7 year old shih tzu started having seizures on Christmas eve. She is on phenobarbitol for them. The vet I saw said the most likely cause is a brain tumor. The last few days she is drinking a lot more than usual. She is also utinating and having frequent bowel movements.I had her out twice this morning. I had to go out and she urinated on the floor. This is highly unusual for her. It is occuring more often. My suspision is kidney failure. My question is. Is she suffering? She doesn't show signs of pain but is getting a little crabbier. She normally has a great disposition. Just a little spoiled. She has now started panting when she needs to go out. This she has never...

  • My 12 yr old sweet ol boy has been feeling really bad, he is lethargic, w0n't sit, only lies on his side. won't walk, eat (only selective foods like a hotdog or a piece of chicken etc.)His bones are starting to show. He has a leaky discharge from his private and the same from his eyes (greenish), It's been a week now and he is no better. He's not throwing up and doesn't seem to be hurting just miserable (but i DON'T KNOW)We do not have the money to take to the vet and I know he is old, I just want to make sure he is not suffering. What should I do? I have been giving him 1 aspirin 2 times a day to help.

  • Your Opinion

I have an approximately 10 year old biscon-poodle mix dog that is taking Proin Drops 25 mg. I give it to her twice a day. It seems to work most of the time, but sometimes she is still dripping. My question is, will this ever get better? Will she always need this medicine, and do I have to increase the amount I give her over time? Any side affects? She has seizures, (not severe enough to take meds) she is deaf, is now having trouble with her eye, and has had (last year) 14 teeth pulled. My poor little girl!! I would appricate your opinion. Thank You

  • Urination - peeing in her sleep

I have an 8 year old Cocker Spaniel and just recently she has been peeing in her sleep. She is totally unaware that this is occurring. Should I limit her water intake? Could this be a problem with her sphincter muscle? Any suggestions?
