Hi, this is a 2 part question: We have had our cat for just about 2 years, and about 2 months after getting him, he started urinating next to the litterbox. We have tried to cater to him by changing the litter a few times, moving the litterbox, getting a larger litterbox, and we also took him to the vet, where after blood, urine, and xrays could only come up with the conclusion that he had a "little liver" because he was very small for his age. Second, once in a while he has a bowel movement with blood in it. This has happened only 2 times that we have recognized, but the most recent one having mucus, blood, and a very out-of-the-norm foul oder. Do you have any ...

Posted on 2008/09/14 by marilyn dayhi, this will be long, but i am scared. my pug has been fine until this friday. she came in heat around aug. 7, tried to keep her and male pug seperated. my son let them both out at the same time to go to take care of normal business when we got home. this was aug. 12 and i caught them. everything has been fine till now. first notice small clear wet spots on floor with a blood clot in them. four on one day, two the next day. she was still happy and full of energy. then noticed she was trembling, and then there was urine in blood. at first she dranked alot, now the only thing i can get her to drink is watered down milk with a egg in it.(i hope this safe) lost her appetite ...

rear leg lameness
Posted on 2008/09/11 by Mark LutzOur 11 y/o aus shep? mix is displaying signs of rear leg lameness. Difficulty getting up from lying down and getting onto the couch were what we noticed first. She has developed a limp and drag when walking which seems to be worse on the left side with occasional tremors in her leg when standing. She’s not as high strung all the time like she used to be, but her personality has not changed. And we have seen absolutely no signs of pain. She will still chase the squirrels in the back yard and won’t yelp if she falls because she can’t run well anymore. Occasional incontinence (not urinary) and walking with an uncomfortable squat while defecating are also new. We have t ...

dog bad behavior change
Posted on 2008/09/08 by alexandra wattsI recent went to FL. and left my dog with a friend who ended up neglecting my dog. for example she left her in a cage all weekend no food water and she ended using the bathroom all over the cage. Since I have gotten her back her behavior has changed dramatically. She was potty trained very well. Now she goes anywhere and gets scared very easily and pees on herself. She mainly hides under the bed and goes there. and vomits sometimes under there to. we have a cat she would playful have fun with. Now when they play she makes evil growling sounds like it is a real fight. we have to leave her in the cage at night otherwise she pees on the floor. I want my good sweet dog back ...

Cat will not eat...vet doesn't know why...
Posted on 2008/09/08 by Sherry DanielsWhen I adopted my 12 year old cat, he was obese. He has lost 4.5 lbs, and refuses to eat. There have been several changes in his life in the past six months: new owner and home, packing and moving to another new home. The vet that I took him to found a lump on his thyroid, but can not seem to find a reason why the cat will not eat. Any suggestions?

Posted on 2008/08/14 by Karie MoseleyMy 12 yr old sweet ol boy has been feeling really bad, he is lethargic, w0n't sit, only lies on his side. won't walk, eat (only selective foods like a hotdog or a piece of chicken etc.)His bones are starting to show. He has a leaky discharge from his private and the same from his eyes (greenish), It's been a week now and he is no better. He's not throwing up and doesn't seem to be hurting just miserable (but i DON'T KNOW)We do not have the money to take to the vet and I know he is old, I just want to make sure he is not suffering. What should I do? I have been giving him 1 aspirin 2 times a day to help.

My 5 Year old German Shephard cannot urinate
Posted on 2008/06/24 by UserHello, I have a 5 year male nuetured German Shephard. In the last year, he has been having problems urinating..where he isn't urinating at all. I have been to three different vets and a specialist and no one seems to know what's going on. In the past, I've put him on Clavamox and that has seemed to work short term. Last week, he stopped urinating again. He doesn't seem to have any kidney or prostate problems and also doesn't have a UTI. He now isn't responding to the Clavamox which used to work in about 24 hours. Has anyone have any advise for me or heard of anything like this? I'm just a wreck about this and at my wits end!! Please help!!

Has my kitty lost his love for life?
Posted on 2008/06/20 by UserMy loving cat, "Mr. Whiskers", for many months, has not been his active self. I have taken him to several vets wanting to know answers to his progressive symptoms: dragging of left hind leg (if he moves),staggering/falling, walking against walls, head tilt, hiding under the bed, lack of interest in play, lack of eating/urination, little meowing and more moaning, eye infection/lazy right eye, urination trouble (while I hold him) and seizures. Mr. Whiskers's vet placed him on 1/2 pill of Predisone every two days. In addition, I was told just to make him confortable since his demise could be near. Since his last seizure (about a month ago) Mr. Whiskers has b ...

Is she in pain or suffering
Posted on 2008/06/05 by Brenda LorenzMy 7 year old shih tzu started having seizures on Christmas eve. She is on phenobarbitol for them. The vet I saw said the most likely cause is a brain tumor. The last few days she is drinking a lot more than usual. She is also utinating and having frequent bowel movements.I had her out twice this morning. I had to go out and she urinated on the floor. This is highly unusual for her. It is occuring more often. My suspision is kidney failure. My question is. Is she suffering? She doesn't show signs of pain but is getting a little crabbier. She normally has a great disposition. Just a little spoiled. She has now started panting when she needs to go out. This she has never do ...
