my 4 mo. old kitten has had his 3rd eyelid showing for about 4-5 weeks. He's frequently licking his bottom but I see no worms nor any in his stool. He has had a few loose stools with a little vomit as well. He's also much thinner than his sister. Now my other cats have their 3rd eyelid showing, upset tummies and sneezing. Vet at the animal shelter said nothing is wrong but my gut feeling is otherwise.

Sick Poodle
Posted on 2008/11/22 by UserHello, I have an apricot poodle about 2 years old. She has been coughing and throwing up lately. There was one occasion where she was throwing up for an entire day. She also had diarrhea, but not currently. I thought perhaps she had an allergy to the food so I changed it. She was okay for a while but now I saw what looked like to be spots of blood in her urine. What could it be? please help

My puppy's nose is dry. He is eating and drinking ok. I notice often, especially after eating a treat, that he licks around repeatedly (makes me think that he's either trying to get every bit or that he has a dry mouth?) so I offer him water, which he sometimes drinks--then back to the licking for a bit. I live in NYC, and the weather has recently become much colder and drier. My dog's name is Happy, and he is an 8 month old Maltipoo approx 8-9 lbs. He was neutered one month ago (no problems), and he seems to be in perfectly good health. i gave my father in law a kitten for his birthday and he has a cold i knew he had a cold when i got him and the humane society said he had been treated for it but now when he brings the kitten over to see my kids he looks worse. i noticed that his pupils were two different sizes and looked it up on line and it said it could be a number of things but it is not normal. my father in law is very stubborn and will not take the kitten to the vet and im concerned for that kitten and my cat that is exposed to him when he comes over also for my children touching the sick kitten.what should i do and are there any home remedys he could try???

wheezing, lethargic cat
Posted on 2008/12/14 by UserMy 3yr old female cat has been wheezing and coughing today. She gets coughing spells where she sounds like she may have a hairball but you can hear her wheezing. When I sit with her on my chest I can feel her breathing erratically and heavily. She's also lethargic. We do have another cat in the house that does this often. She is older, has asthma and is on steroids. Could my cat have gotten sick from her? I plan on taking her to the vet tomorrow afternoon but I'm wondering if any of this sounds life threatening and if I should take her to an emergency vet tonight. Thank you, Hannah Butler

do dogs get colds like humans?
Posted on 2008/12/16 by UserWe have a 13 yr old pug that recently started having blood noses but now is snorting and trouble breathing through his nose. He has a runny nose with a whitish discharge at times. It's obvious he isn't feeling good because he is walking around with his tail uncurled. His appettite seems to be ok. Do dogs get colds like humans do? Because that is what it seems like.

After spending hours reading on this site I think my kitten may have the flu.He was adopted from the Human Society ,he is the only cat in our house and has been home for almost 2 weeks,and on the paper work states he has had the following:feline rhinotracheitis,calici-panleukopenia vaccine,pyran and advantage vaccine.Are any of these the ones that protect against flu,could it be something else he has?Also he is scheduled to go to the vets December 29 for more of his shots,since he is only 6 months.Is there anything I can do in terms of food(I heard code oils and certain can wet foods can help),or anything I can physically do..(I've tried keeping him in the bathroom as I...
