My 5 year old Maltese is not eating. I went away for the weekend and came home to see his weight loss. He is also throwing up in random spurts of the day. He is not playful and sleeps non stop. I am concerned. Do you know what could be wrong with him? He has a history of seizures often, and a strict diet of no sodium.

Falling over.dog.
Posted on 2009/03/04 by UserOur 11 year old mixed dog, part terrier, has recently for the last few months, had episodic seizures where he just falls over to the side and lays there for about 60 - 120 seconds , usually motionless, and sometimes with high cry of pain for 15 seconds. Then it stops, he gets up and walks around wagging tail like nothing happened. Vet took blood work for heart and valley fever. Negative. Has slight heart murmur. Sometimes falling and paralysis preceded by heavy panting, or rear leg shaking. Sometimes happens twice in a day. Overweight. Seems drink water a lot. Good appetite and otherwise active with walks, wagging tail, liking stomarch rubbed, eating, and...

Dogs having Siezures
Posted on 2009/03/14 by UserHello, I have 2 yorkies, Ricky and Lucy who are brother and sister. They are 2 1/2 years old. Last summer they started having siezures. Ricky had them first and then Lucy started them. At times they will go a couple of months without one, but then they might have 2 of them pretty close together. Would this be something that is genetic? Is there anything I can do that won't cost a ton of money? I've been out of work for 10 months and can't afford much.

I am not sure, but I think my yorkie is having seizures. He's almost 4 years old and I think he's had 3 or 4. From what i've read i'm not sure if it is actually a seizure, and I also know that is vet is next to useless when it comes to a diagnosis. Last night he bumped his head chasing his ball, and started shaking, his head got very wobbly, he seemed really dazed and he could not move his front legs, and before he could collapse i scooped him up. I held him in my arms and calmed him down, he shook pretty violently but there was really no flailing or biting or drooling or anything of that sort, just shaking and very dazed - and the widest eyes i've ever seen. He...

diazepam for dogs
Posted on 2009/04/09 by UserMy dog has epilepsy and is on epiphen tablets,we also have a rectal diazepam for emergencies. My question is if the worst happened and the seizure was not stopping after 5-10 min and we needed to use the diazepam how quickly does it take effect ,how long is it effective for and is it guaranteed to take affect when used.We have been told that if the diazepam is used we are to administer it and head straight to the vets

My cat is 11 hours from being put down...has begun twitching (please respond asap)
Posted on 2009/04/24 by UserMy beloved 13 year old cat is being put down in about 11 hours for tumors that have metastasized and spread throughout his organs and spine. Over the past two or three hours, he has begun to have bouts of twitching that primarily involve the muscles on his face and paws (sometimes together, sometimes not). What is the probable cause of this? Is he dying? Is there anything we can do to help with his discomfort? Our vet also gave him a dose of Metacam (Meloxicam) for the first time today to treat his pain. Could the twitching be a reaction to this med? Any quick response would be greatly appreciated.
