Seizures & fits

  • I have a 2.5 yr old male Husky/rotie cross. Over the last year and a half he has had increasing mood swings, and (out of the blue, and unprovoked) times of aggression toward members of our family. We have taken him to 2 trainers, and nothing seems to make him behave better. For the last 2 weeks he has become more and more moody, and this weekend he had a seizure lasting 5-6 mins (convulsions, foaming at the mouth) and then 5-6 mins of extreme aggression (atacking the furnature, walls ect.) We took him to the vet, she did blood work. +10 Red Bolld cells, +Bullyrubins, +Proteins. She said there was nothing she could treat, but didn't give us an answer as to what might...

  • My cat is very sick. He is an outside male cat. He has had diarrhea for a while but that was all. We thought it was just his diet so we changed it. Today when I went out to play with him he was having trouble moveing his back legs and was falling all over the place. He was Just fine yesterday. This has happened before. Most of our outside male cats will just suddenly get this to. They will suddenly get so worse that we are afraid to pick them up for fear of hurting them. Then they will nearly die. The within 24 hours of the worst of it they will be perfetly all right and will act like nothing happened. The sickness seems to only affect only our male outside...

  • Our 3 yrs old German Sheppard has been having Grand Mal seizures for about a year now, lately they've become more frequent and are now accompanied by what appears to be disorientation and anxiety. He behaves as though he doesn't know us, growls, hides, won't go out or eat. Its like he's a strange dog we don't know. He's had a check up and blood work done at the vet - everything appears normal. Could our dog have a brain tumor or some other neurological problem??

  • our yorkie has had an issue with seizures for the last 4 months..he is on vet prescribed medication that he takes 2x daily. Over the last week he has become very lathargic and beginning today he has points on his body that are extreamly sensitive(particularly around his neck)...he wimpers when he is pet in these places. Should we be concerned? Is it due to the meds or the seizures?

  • Health question

We have a miniature dachsund(about 8 pounds) that is about 5 years old. She was just coming through the house and suddenly seemed unable to walk especially trouble with her back legs. She started shaking all over, a lot. We held her for about 3-4 minutes and she stopped shaking and I put her down and she took off at a run. The "spell" she had was very scary. Any ideas? No history of anything like that before.

  • my dog

my dog has sudden spells where he shakes constantly and he does'nt appear to be able to move his back legs. it looks like he's having a spasm of some kind and he constantly licks his lips and swallows like he has a dry mouth but he won't drink. then for several hours afterwards he justs lays there and sleeps like he has no energy where he normally runs about and jumps around. do i need to take him to a vet to get checked out?

  • My cat..

My other cat (2years, about 3) sometimes goes through seizures. I know when he is about to go through one, he starts acting very sweet and loving, and all he wants is pets, and he also rolls much much more. He does this about 3 or 4 days before he has to go though the seizure. At first, when he was younger, he would only go through one seizure, but now, sometimes he has to go through 2. I can't tell you the exactly when he is ganna go through one, but I do know when he is about to. When he is in his seizure I try to come him down, by petting him, telling him its going to be okay. Is this good? Also, when he is going through these seizures, he slobbers, and he urinates on...

  • Cat problem

I woke this morning to my cat, thrashing around the bed making agressive noises. He then thrashed himself off the bed. We realised the bed was covered in his saliva. When he was on the floor the thrashing stopped and he stood on his front two legs making a raspy panting sound with his tounge poking out. After about 5 minuites he lay down and we noticed his pupils had almost fully dilated leaving very little visible Iris. After about half an hour we discovered he can still stand on his hind legs however he refuses to leave the spot on the floor where he first landed. He keeps crying out for seemingly no reason, often while purring, his pupils have now returned to...

  • My 12 yr old dog had been diagnosed with an immune deficiancy disorder and suffers from chronic tooth infection. Now he is having grand mal seizures. Could the seizures be related to the teeth or could it be something else?
