  • I have a young dog who suffers from cluster fits. He is on Phenobarb and KBr, but still has approx 4 fits a month. He had a bad cluster of fits four days ago, approx 9 in 24 hours, two of them severe. Since recovering, he appears to have lost some vision ( he loses me easily in the park) and he cries sporadically, for around 4 or 5 seconds at a time about 6 times a day. He doesn't appear to have any swelling or tender spots around his body. He has a huge appetite, and has exhibited some recent strange behavioural traits ( chewing cast iron fireplace/ his pottery food bowl). He drools alot, urinates very frequently and drinks compulsively.( Phenobarb side...

  • My dog is not at all timid around other animals or people, but if someone hiccups she trembles all over (legs shake uncontrollably), and tries to get underneath things, and often hides in the bathtub. In the past there have been very few things that cause this to happen such as hiccups, and certain beeping sounds (not all but some). Lately she has been doing this without the hiccup or sound provoking the episode. I am not sure if she is hearing a sound that we can't hear (maybe from a neighbors house), or if she has some type of anxiety that is worsening. Is this something we should be concerned about. Her brother had a stroke last year at the age of 7 so I am...

  • Dog probs

Have a dog "Jay" sometimes he looks likes he is having some sort of spasms in his legs. He scrapes his paws on the floor quite rapidly, like a cartoon character about to race. When this happens he also flits around the room as if shot up the backside with a "what was that" look on his face. Any ideas??? It looks like mini electric shocks going through him??? He also from time to time suffers with his right ear only, pic enclosed. It tends to redden and he shakes his head alot and scratches it this keeps repeating from time to time.

Can dogs contract human illnesses or diseases and vice versa?

  • Cat Question

Pooky is 13 years old and I need to know what to do. First, let me say that he is VERY afraid of car rides, he foams at the mouth, pants, etc. so a ride at this point would not do any good as he would not survive the trip. For the past couple of weeks, I've noticed a rapids weight loss. Two days ago, he became lethargic, would only eat a little tuna & juice off my fingers few times/day, is still drinking a little water and using the cat litter a couple times a day(no poop for two days since he isn't eating solids), but now walking to the water bowl or for more than 5 or 6 ft. he is exhausted to the point of collapse. thought I had lost him a couple times today...
