Seizures & fits

  • renal dysfunction

Lola is my 7-yr-old cat, somewhat overweight after spaying about 6 months ago, but seemingly very healthy until less than a week ago, then suddenly lethargic (barely raising her head off the floor) with spasms or slow-motion seizures. Two days ago, the vet did analyses, concluded renal dysfunction (elevated urea 40.68 and creatinina 297). He didn't give a cause, but I know for a fact my neighbor hates my cats, and wouldn't put poison past her. The vet gave Lola a longterm (14-day) antibiotic and I've seen her a bit more lively in the last two days, but finicky about food. Won't eat her Hill's prescription diet k-d, spits it out if I try to combine it with other food. I...

  • Help!

We just got a Himalayan kitten about two months ago. He is about three months old I think. We got him from what we thought was a legitimate breeder. She was advertised in the newspaper and she had a sign and everything out in front of her house. So it looks like she is legitimate at least. Well, when we got him and brought him home he was fine. But about a week after he was at our house. He started getting sick. He had a runny nose and he couldnt breathe. He was clearly very congested. So we took him to the vet. The vet diagnoised him with an upper respiratory infection, which, Ive come to read online that those are common in kittens. Well, we gave him the medicine even...

  • I have a young dog who suffers from cluster fits. He is on Phenobarb and KBr, but still has approx 4 fits a month. He had a bad cluster of fits four days ago, approx 9 in 24 hours, two of them severe. Since recovering, he appears to have lost some vision ( he loses me easily in the park) and he cries sporadically, for around 4 or 5 seconds at a time about 6 times a day. He doesn't appear to have any swelling or tender spots around his body. He has a huge appetite, and has exhibited some recent strange behavioural traits ( chewing cast iron fireplace/ his pottery food bowl). He drools alot, urinates very frequently and drinks compulsively.( Phenobarb side...
