This morning I found my feline crouched over a pool of white/yellow foam that she had just vomitted. She was panting and her eyes were dilated. She had come from the litter box and looked as if she may have lost control of bowels because there was solid stool on the floor trailing to where she stopped to vomit. Worried I rushed her to the animal hospital. By the time she got there the panting had ceased and she looked to be fine. The vet has run blood work and x rays. In the x rays he said the pulmonary arteries were enlarged and this looked to be a case of heartworm disease. (blood work will come back tomorrow) She is very overwieght (21lbs) and has not been losin ...

sezures making me sad but Rowdy is taking it well
Posted on 2008/09/07 by Odis BickersMy dog is approx 16 y/o. He is part yellow lab and maybe chow or pit,(Vet said part german sheperd and y/lab but I don't see it) He has started having seazures (Falls down, Muscles get stiff, sometimes he cries out, pee's a little sometimes) about once every 3 to 4 weeks. Otherwise he has a good quality of life. #1 Vet said put him down cause of age, but he is still in pretty good shape, (only had conversations with, as he knows Im disabled and on SS and cant afford alot) He also told me it would be expensive to find out what the issue is!! So the main question I have is there something HOMEOPATHIC, or a old wifes tale cure I might try? My dad is telling me to mix a tabl ...

Hypoglycemic Puppy Won't Eat After Nutri-Cal
Posted on 2008/08/30 by Wendy BurtonWe got a 7 week old Yorkie puppy Tuesday. Wednesday she had to be taken to the vet with seizures. They believed it was hypoglycemia, perked her back up and said if she does it again come back. She started it again this morning so I took her back to the vet's office. Again, hypoglycemia. She ate just before we went to bed last night but sometime during the night this all came on. (She ate probably 5 times yesterday.) Food and water are left out so all she has to do is eat. Today they gave me a tube of Nutri-Cal and told me to give it to her every 30 minutes til she eats. That was about 11am, it's now almost 9pm and she still won't eat. Has only taken a sip or two of water ...

seizures
Posted on 2008/07/22 by christy olivaresHi, Egor is 16 yrs old, and now having seizures? He gets all contorted & stiff for about 30 seconds. Then when he is done, he is totally fine! I thought if you have a seizure you are out of it for at least a little while. He just had a full blood panel done. The vet said to come back in 2 weeks to test for leukemia again, because he had a weak pos.. So I did, and he was cleared. Now I don't know what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! WHAT HAPPENED
Posted on 2008/07/10 by Chaz Sivadit was hot today and my dog was wrestling with another.shortly afterward he seemed like he couldnt find his balance, started drooling (he never drools) staggered back and forth for a bit, i picked him up and he was still trying to walk in place for a bit, walked in circles, knocked over his water bowl while walking slowly, slightly sideways, and seemed to be somewhere else. i thought he was seriously dying, but shortly thereafter, he started playing and running around normal. i found him on the highway about 6 months ago, and noone knows what breed he is, but is apparently about 12 or 13 years old.

Has my kitty lost his love for life?
Posted on 2008/06/20 by UserMy loving cat, "Mr. Whiskers", for many months, has not been his active self. I have taken him to several vets wanting to know answers to his progressive symptoms: dragging of left hind leg (if he moves),staggering/falling, walking against walls, head tilt, hiding under the bed, lack of interest in play, lack of eating/urination, little meowing and more moaning, eye infection/lazy right eye, urination trouble (while I hold him) and seizures. Mr. Whiskers's vet placed him on 1/2 pill of Predisone every two days. In addition, I was told just to make him confortable since his demise could be near. Since his last seizure (about a month ago) Mr. Whiskers has b ...

Is she in pain or suffering
Posted on 2008/06/05 by Brenda LorenzMy 7 year old shih tzu started having seizures on Christmas eve. She is on phenobarbitol for them. The vet I saw said the most likely cause is a brain tumor. The last few days she is drinking a lot more than usual. She is also utinating and having frequent bowel movements.I had her out twice this morning. I had to go out and she urinated on the floor. This is highly unusual for her. It is occuring more often. My suspision is kidney failure. My question is. Is she suffering? She doesn't show signs of pain but is getting a little crabbier. She normally has a great disposition. Just a little spoiled. She has now started panting when she needs to go out. This she has never do ...

Posted on 2008/06/02 by UserI have a 3 mo. kitten that something happened to him yesterday.I thought it was over heating cause I found him in my back yard in the sun. I cooled him down with a wet wash cloth. He is shaking very bad. Its like his nervous system has gone hay wire. He made it through the night and he responds to me when I call his name and when I hold him he purrs. He has drank some water and tried to eat. He has no diarrhea, and his bowel movements are pretty normal. All he does is shake badly. How can I help him.

dog having seizures
Posted on 2008/04/14 by UserHi, my dog is a chihuahua/palmeranian and is 14 (non dog years) old. She had asthma her whole life, but now it seems to be worse. She is always making hacking noise, and looks like she hacking something up but nothing comes out. And just recently in the past 2 months or so, shes been getting what im guessing are seizures. When she gets excited about something, she starts like loosing her balance then falls over. She then arches her back and kicks her legs a little while breathing heavy. After like a minute or so she sits up and just sits there. I know shes pretty old and probally wont live much longer but is there anything I can do?

Random biting from well behaved and submissive whippet
Posted on 2008/04/02 by UserSorry this question is a bit long. Here are the details about our dog: -age 3 male whippet -we've had him since he was 2 years old -former owners got divorced and decided to give him up for adoption -very well trained, obedient, kind -submissive if tested (ie we can put him on his back, take his food, etc) -is not free fed -gets lots of exercise -sleeps on the floor in another room Here is our current issue: -About 2 months ago, our dog was lying on a chair at my parent's house relaxing and my 8 year old cousin went over to pet him. He snapped at her and left a small cut on her cheek. No one saw if she had been bugging him or not so everyone said it wasn't h ...

puppy failing
Posted on 2008/03/13 by UserI have a 3 month old chihuahua puppy that I adopted 2 weeks ago from a rescue shelter. He was great for the first few days and then started losing weight. I took him back to ask her for her advice and she sent him home with albon and amoxicillin and vitamins and asked me to keep her informed about him. I took him to the vet 2 days later and the vet told me to take him off the antibiotics and put him on a stronger one, to keep giving him the vitamins and Pedialyte as well. he''s also on hills science diet which I''ve been mixing with a little water and feeding with a syringe. He''s not eating or drinking on his own; everything he gets is with a syringe. He''ll walk a littl ...
