I need help ASAP; I'm Not sure how much longer she'll be here....
Posted on 2009/06/24 by UserMy dog, a 10 year old rat terrier mix, is having serious difficulties.lately she has been having strange seizures where her body locks up and she just whines and sometimes loses control of her bladder. now she has lost basic use of her left set of legs. She can't balance and has become lethargic and lost appetite. Her eyes also sometimes go cockeyed. She refuses to eat but we can get her to drink. Apart from that she just lays there and sleeps or whines. We are scared of a vet visit do to the cost. what could possibly be going on so we know what we could be looking at cost wise and especially if she'll be around much longer....

Spinal Cord Injury
Posted on 2009/07/01 by UserOn June 18 my husband noticed that our cat Tigger wasn't walking right. He walked like he had cramps and turned inward toward his left side. On the 19th he started to drag the left hind leg and leaking urine. I called the vet and couldn't get him in until the next day. They checked him for UTI, and blockage, which all came back normal. On Wednesday (June 24) he had lost the use of both hind legs. The vet did an x-ray and it showed compression of the spine and spinal bruising. Thurs, Fri and Sat he was much much better. Saturday he walked around using both hind legs. On Monday when I went to see him, he again lost the use of both hind legs. We were able to bring...

Cat: lost all muscle control?
Posted on 2009/07/10 by Usercat collapsed a week ago and has had no ability to walk; very little eating and drinking; cannot get up; very little bowel activity and no signs of bladder activity; one pupil dialated, the other just a slit; age: about one year?; has three kittens about two and a half months old; can hear and see and responds to us by meowing; can only lift her head for a very short time. do you hav any ideas on how we could help her without going to the vet and spending hundreds of dollars? we havent had her long at all, she just showed up at our house, had kittens, and is now strangely ill... thank you for your time and help!

dog not using hind leg
Posted on 2009/07/31 by jamesMy dog hasn't been using her right rear hind leg for over 24 hrs, last night I let her inside but she wouldn't eat, she doesn't appear to be in pain but she obviously has a hard time moving around. She has been dealing with skin issues recently but I don't see any thing abnormal... although she does have a little growth of some kind on the inside part of her leg, but that has been there for quite a while and doesn't seem to be related. tonight I got her to eat some chicken in water and some wet dog food, still not touching the dry food or water.

unknown diagnosis
Posted on 2009/08/21 by JackieThis question has stumped our family vetinarian. Madison is a 7 1/2 year old spayed Labrador mix, currently diagnosed with hip displasia in both hips (bad on one side, fair on the other), and incontinence. She has been prescribed Proin (25mg, 2x/day), and a glucosamine/chrondroitin/MSM combination (500 mg/200 mg/50 mg, 2x/day) for 2 years and tolerating that very well. On Tuesday, August 18, we noticed her drooling and unwilling to close her mouth. On Wednesday, August 19, we took her to our family vet. Dr. Kage examined her and took skull x-rays. When she and her 2 fellow doctors at the clinic couldn't determine a reason, we sent the x-rays to a radiologist...

Slipped Disc
Posted on 2009/10/19 by UserMy dog has just been diagnosed with a slipped disk in his thoracic area. We have started him on steroids and he is currently in the hospital until Wednesday. The vet has informed me that if he isnot better by Wed I should consider euthanization which I refuse to do. He can be referred to the Unversity of GA but I do not have the funds to send him there. Does he have to be put to sleep - is this a must? This just started Saturday around midnight and he has some paralysis in his hind legs but no other signs. he is still urinating well, etc. Please help. Thank you. Dana
