  • spider bite ????

my ten year old husky-lab has a skin ulcer that is about the size of a half dollar... it weeps constantly even after a full ten day course of antibiotics and then subsequently halfway through a fourteen day course of two antibiotics...this is three weeks in to a lump that i found on his back that then turned scabby and then into an open ulcer located just below his spine...xrays show minimal arthritis in his spine near the area ...he has lost most control in his rear end and has great lethargy...he has little appetite...prior to this his energy appetite and rear end were excellent...swimming hiking playing were daily events...i fear that the recovery is not near and...

  • Our dog had distemper a year ago, and was very sick, lost control of back legs for a few weeks. She appeared to recover last year, then about 2 months ago, she seemed to have a relapse. She got weak in the back legs again, not nearly as bad as last time but now she is having trouble holding her poops at night. The vet says she had "poor tone" in the sphincters, ie. weak. She has been pooping in the house at night and eating it. I can tell as there are brown smudges on the carpet. How can I help her regain the muscle tone in her sphincter so she can hold her poops at night ? Also what's a good method for discouraging her from eating poop....

  • Very sick cat

I have a 14 yr old female cat who has slowly quit eating and drinking. We switched her from hard food to soft food about 1 1/2 weeks ago because she wouldn't eat much and was throwing up what she did eat. She was still drinking plenty of water. That worked for a couple of days but the she started throwing up again and now she will not eat much at all. I know she is hungry because she sits by her bowl. I have tried many kinds of food but she will not eat. The only thing she had yesterday was a very small bowl of milk. I took her to the vet last week and she has been on antibiotics for 1 week now but they don't seem to be helping. She does not seem to be in pain...

  • My cat is very sick. He is an outside male cat. He has had diarrhea for a while but that was all. We thought it was just his diet so we changed it. Today when I went out to play with him he was having trouble moveing his back legs and was falling all over the place. He was Just fine yesterday. This has happened before. Most of our outside male cats will just suddenly get this to. They will suddenly get so worse that we are afraid to pick them up for fear of hurting them. Then they will nearly die. The within 24 hours of the worst of it they will be perfetly all right and will act like nothing happened. The sickness seems to only affect only our male outside...

  • dog problem

I have a 14 year old cocker Spaniel. Her back legs seem to be giving way and her breathing is heavy

  • problem with my sheltie

Our 13 year old sheltie seemed to have injured a paw and has been limping on it hard for 2 days. Yesterday she became immobile. It seems unlikely that her muscles would have atrophied so quickly. Now she has trouble breathing a times and is totally unable to lift herself up. She is able to take some licks of water if I hold her up, but has not eaten any food and hasn't peed outside, even if I hold her up. I have not idea what could be wrong, but it seems very bad for her. Do you think she is in any pain?

  • my dog

my dog has sudden spells where he shakes constantly and he does'nt appear to be able to move his back legs. it looks like he's having a spasm of some kind and he constantly licks his lips and swallows like he has a dry mouth but he won't drink. then for several hours afterwards he justs lays there and sleeps like he has no energy where he normally runs about and jumps around. do i need to take him to a vet to get checked out?
