very scared
Posted on 2008/09/14 by marilyn dayhi, this will be long, but i am scared. my pug has been fine until this friday. she came in heat around aug. 7, tried to keep her and male pug seperated. my son let them both out at the same time to go to take care of normal business when we got home. this was aug. 12 and i caught them. everything has been fine till now. first notice small clear wet spots on floor with a blood clot in them. four on one day, two the next day. she was still happy and full of energy. then noticed she was trembling, and then there was urine in blood. at first she dranked alot, now the only thing i can get her to drink is watered down milk with a egg in it.(i hope this safe) lost her appetite ...

sezures making me sad but Rowdy is taking it well
Posted on 2008/09/07 by Odis BickersMy dog is approx 16 y/o. He is part yellow lab and maybe chow or pit,(Vet said part german sheperd and y/lab but I don't see it) He has started having seazures (Falls down, Muscles get stiff, sometimes he cries out, pee's a little sometimes) about once every 3 to 4 weeks. Otherwise he has a good quality of life. #1 Vet said put him down cause of age, but he is still in pretty good shape, (only had conversations with, as he knows Im disabled and on SS and cant afford alot) He also told me it would be expensive to find out what the issue is!! So the main question I have is there something HOMEOPATHIC, or a old wifes tale cure I might try? My dad is telling me to mix a tabl ...

lameness
Posted on 2008/09/01 by teresa hewittPepper jumped off of our bed about about a week ago.He sounded like he landed a little hard. He was okay the first couple of days except he wouldnt jump on the bed or anything. Then he suddenly stopped walking. He would only drag himself aroun. We carried him to the vet. They did spinal hip and skull xrays, Everything came back normal. They also did bloodwork which was normal. They really have no explanation for what is wrong. They sent him home on prednisone. They said he may walk in a few days or it could be weeks. They just dont know, He does'nt seem to be in any pain and he is very alert. He also eats really well. I have noticed since he has been home he ha ...

16 Year Old Female Dog Has Enlarged Vulva
Posted on 2008/06/08 by Graciela SandovalDizzy is a 16 year old female dog that has not been spayed and never had a litter. She has an enlarged vulva and her hind legs give out sometimes. She eats well and drinks routinely. Her urine is normal, no blood. When we gave her a bath yesterday she couldn't move her hind legs, especially the right one for about 10 minutes. But she wagged her tail and tried to walk around. She also had shortness of breath and kept caughing. I held her for the 15minutes and dried her hair with a towel and a low level blow dryer. What's wrong?

Lack of body control
Posted on 2008/05/19 by John SurfaceWhen I fed Ziggy this morning she seemed to be semi paralized, she was standing in one place and couldn't move. When she finally did move - she seemed to have little to no control over her body. She did eat and use the bathroom afterwards.

Vaginal Infection
Posted on 2008/05/14 by Melissa JacksonOur cat had 4 kittens almost 7 weeks ago and the smallest I notice doesn't have a tail and it's back legs do not function like they should. She just drags them behind her most the time. Right away we noticed she had puss and yellow fluid coming from her vagina. It seemed to be getting better but recently it is a lot worse. Just a moment ago I picked her up and noticed her vagina is REALLY swollen and I pressed on her belly and infection ran out of her vagina. We can't afford to take her to the vet. What other options do we have in treating her? Would clinic take her and treat her for free or keep her? I am so worried

treatment for 15-year-old dog with brain tumor
Posted on 2008/05/13 by UserI have a 15-year-old Wheaten Terrier with all the symptoms of a tumor in the cerebellum according to the neurologist at the vet school here -- intention tremor, right head tilt, lack of use of back legs, fecal incontinence, crying and panting at night. On the plus side, he has a very good appetite. The vet did not recommend an MRI because he said the dog was too old for surgery or radiation treatment which would require a general anesthetic. We are palliatively treating him with acupuncture and Chinese herbs (from the vet school). My question is: Are we giving up too easily? Should we be more aggresive with the treatment? Are 15-year-old dogs too old to be treated? Or ...

What killed my cat?
Posted on 2008/03/20 by Mary GoodwinI would apprecieate any ideas on what might have killed my cat of 8 yrs. He was a In and outdoor cat, via a doggy door. Had been all his life. Moved to Okmulgee Oklahoma in 10-05. "Key", his name, absolutely loved his new fenced yard, birds, bunnies etc. Often brining in his "kill" for my purview. He was current on all preventative shots. On late eve of June 6th,06, I found him extrememly lethargic. Time was after midnight, I thought I wait till morning. In the morning he was almost comatose. Took him to a nearby vet, the front desk person said that she didn't feel that much could be done, but when the attending vet returned I would get a phone call. Until the vet coul ...

Canine Degenerative Myopathy
Posted on 2008/03/02 by UserOur dog had an episode where he could not walk for a period of about 3 days. We took him to emergency hosptial where they did many tests. They gave him a steriod and that helped a lot. This was about 8 years ago. There was no diagnosis found. He is having it again now. I looked up his symptoms and they are just like Canine Degenerative Myopathy with the exception that it states these dogs die within a year of onset. It has been 8 years and our dog has been great until now. Can this disease go away for several years and reoccur?

Neuro changes in cat
Posted on 2008/02/21 by Joanne CarrWondering if you can help me with my 8yo. neutered male cat. Last night I heard him crying and when I went to see what was wrong, he was trying to walk but was stumbleing all over the place. His head was also moving back and forth from left to right. He did know me but seemed to be a little disoriented at the same time. He also lost control of his bowels which I spotted later on the rug. He did this about 4 or 5 months ago but I thought he may have eaten something outside and was having a reaction. Now I don't think so since he wasn't outside yesterday except for about 20 minutes in the morning. Any ideas? Thanks, Joanne Carr
