I have a 7 year old Rhodesian ridgeback. He has had many health issues and not so great luck with vets. He has very sensitive ears, and has had problems with them before, however now they are oozing a smelly yellow pink liquid and I need a fix to help him they are obviously bothering him, but I just dont have a great vet to go to to get some help. Is there anything you can suggest to help get him better

Intestinal problem
Posted on 2008/02/13 by UserMy mother has an English Bulldog named Bud who ate beef sparerib bones over the weekend and now Bud has lost his appetite and is unable to go to the bathroom. My mother took him to our local vet and they gave him an enima, which helped his situation but did not remove the bones. After the enima, they x-rayed him and still saw the mass of bones. They sent Bud home hoping that either the bones would dissolve or that he would pass them. Our vet said that performing surgery would be out of the question due to the fact that Bud is on the medicine predizone and he is also overweight. Is there anything that we can do to speed up the process of dissolving the bones? Any...

sudden illness
Posted on 2008/02/15 by SharonOur black lab has suddenly loss the use of her back legs in the past few days. We have to carried her outside to relieved herself and carried her to the food dish. She had ACL right knee repair surgery last year. At first, we thought this was the problem reoccuring but now we are not sure because both of her legs collapse if she stands on them. My husband plans on taking her to the vet after work. I would take her myself but I am unable to carry her.

My 4 yr old springer spaniol, weight 38lbs is crying when she tries to jump or even when turning lying down. It has been very icy where we live and she is very active and could have slipped on ice while playing with her sister. She is eating, drinking, no trouble urinating and is wiggly. Should I do more than just trying to keep her quiet. I did give her 1/2 a bufferin for pain.

Icing joints?
Posted on 2008/02/18 by UserMy 7-year old golden retriever has bad knees. Xrays ahve shown that he has partial tears in his ACL (though I can't remember exactly which ligaments are inured). I am considering surgery, but I hear that surgery may or may not improve things and may actually make it worse. In the meantime, what other options are there? We are limiting activity and do leach walks only. I have an anti-inflammatory I give him when needed. Do you recommend applying heat or ice at times when needed (like after a walk)?
