My cat's eye started draining last night, but I was not too concerned because he was with me yesterday while I dusted a room we rarely use. My allergies have been crazy, so I though that his was the same. Today his eye is slightly red and swollen. I rinsed it out with saline and gave him a 1/2 tsp of children's benedryl. What can I do to help him until the vet opens tomorrow? He is in pain and already suffers from asthma - I hate to see him this way.

My dog is lethargic and hasn't moved for...
Posted on 2009/07/13 by UserMy dog is lethargic. He hasn't moved for days. Hes gone outside to urinate once today. He goes back to the same spot to lay down. I gave him water and ice cubes, he drank and ate them. He ate a hot dog. He got into the trash a few days ago and I gave him a bath a few days ago also. During the bath I brushed him a lot to get out all of the hairs he's been shedding. I think I may have overbrushed around his neck. there are two patches on either side of his neck that are really red under his coat and seem to be weeping because the fur is slightly damp and hard at the end. I put on an antimicrobial cream for dogs that I got over the counter. It seemed to make it less sore....

Inflamed Paw
Posted on 2009/07/16 by UserI have a 13 month old English Mastiff and she has always been in great health however, yesterday she started favoring her right front paw. I looked it over between her toes and pads and could not find any burrs or thorns. Today when we woke up she was limping and I looked it over again and noticed that the area between her pads and toes is red and swollen. She is an inside pet and we don't have stickers or anything in our yard. Any suggestions?

Open wounds
Posted on 2009/07/18 by UserI had to remove bandaging from my dog's front right leg, as he developed a deep pocket of blood behind his 'elbow' from a small cut. He is currently taking prednisone for arthritis in his lower back and our vet stated that this is what caused this bursting of blood. Our care directions indicate that we should not put more pads on this wound, but it is very open. She stated that it would scab over, providing he does not lick at it. He is taking antibiotics as well for this. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I took my dog for a long bike ride yesterday. At the very end he started limping a little so we took it slow for the rest of the ride. Now he limps while walking on our deck, cement, gravel and even grass. He is fine walking in our house on the kitchen floor and carpet. Is this something I should be worried about? I heard dog paws can get bruised?

I heard dog paws can get bruised? I have checked between his paws and there is nothing between any of them. There are no tears or puncture on any of his paws. He is not favoring one over the other. It seems to be all of them that he is trying to protect. I read that if pressing on the pads causes pain it could be a symptom of bruising, but that doesn't...

Possibly scaroptic mange?
Posted on 2009/07/21 by UserJust today, I noticed these bald spots on my dog, and it hurts when I just barely touch a couple centimeters away from the spot. I have pictures that I took, maybe you can identify what it is. I'd take him to the vet but my parents are too cheap to even consider it without knowing exactly what it is first. Here are the links to the pictures: http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t24/ALEXR23/S5001912.jpg http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t24/ALEXR23/S5001911.jpg Hope they help.
