  • Pain killers

At the age of 22 months, Delilah was hit by a car and her hind right leg was badly broken. She often still suffers pain, especially after a long walk or excessive play. I hav eheard you can give dogs asprin or brufen for pian, is this true and if so what should the dosage be. I don't have much money so if I could get her something over the counter instead of having to pay high veterinary costs, it would be a weight off my mind.

  • I gave my dog some honey the other day and a few hours later he threw it up. Since then his stool has been different shades of brown and he isn't feeling well. What should I do? I just think his stomach is upset because I heard it making noises.

  • Spinal Cord Injury

On June 18 my husband noticed that our cat Tigger wasn't walking right. He walked like he had cramps and turned inward toward his left side. On the 19th he started to drag the left hind leg and leaking urine. I called the vet and couldn't get him in until the next day. They checked him for UTI, and blockage, which all came back normal. On Wednesday (June 24) he had lost the use of both hind legs. The vet did an x-ray and it showed compression of the spine and spinal bruising. Thurs, Fri and Sat he was much much better. Saturday he walked around using both hind legs. On Monday when I went to see him, he again lost the use of both hind legs. We were able to bring...

  • will my cat survive?

Stubby has sustained some internal bleeding due to his belly being ran over a little by a car tire. My vet says there may be damage to his intestinal tract and that all this could possibly heal with antibiotics. I want to save him...do u think that this is possible? What are the odds that he could survive this?

  • Cat behavior has changed

My 2 year old cat has started chasing her tail and hissing and growling, when I try to find out what is wrong, she tries to bite me. Should I be concerned? She acts like shes in pain, she did just have a litter of babies about 6 weeks ago.

  • My cat has trouble standing

I have a cat who is about 6 to 8 years old (probably older)who all of a sudden is having some trouble standing up and walking. He seems to be in pain when he wants to stand up or walk. The two front legs seems fine.It looks like it's his back legs that is causing him some pain. He is a very active cat but now he looked lame. I will take him to the vet tomorrow but in the meantime, can you give me some advice as to what seems to be causing this?

My 6 yr old Golden Retriever will not lie down. He raises his front right paw as if to say it's too uncomfortable to lie down. He is not grunting or crying in pain. He just will not lie down and I know he is tired... it's 2 am!

  • Tail bitting

In October of 2008, I brought my pit bull, Irish and by December he was chasing his tail. Over time, the tail chasing turned into chewing. I have been working with two different vets since January 2009 re: this issue and have spent about a thousand dollars trying to easy the pain of my dog. Irish has been put on antibiotics, anxiety medication, and a sedative. He was also treated for mange. We have gone through a number e-collars and other types of collars that are supposed to prevent him from being able to reach his tail. I do work during the day, about 8 hours. I also have two other dogs in the home a Jack Russell & a Lab/ pit mix. All the dogs are outside...
