Pain

  • Bailey, my 2.5 year old, 60lb male black lab mix slipped a disc several weeks ago, and has been getting back into exercising for about a week now. We went for a 30 minute walk tonight and I gave him 250 mg of Robaxin afterward because he seemed a bit ouchy. 20 mins later I ran out to the car to get something, came back and found him limping. He doesn't want to put any weight on his left front leg, but isn't screaming in pain or anything. I would like to give him a buffered aspirin to help with the pain, but am not sure if that is safe, since I had already given him the Robaxin. My vet's on-call service won't answer the question over the phone and said I could bring him...

  • Bad rabbit foot.

Hi, my rabbit escaped out of her cage (about 50cm high) and was found in the garden yesterday morning. Since then she hasn`t used her front right leg for moving around, but has washed her face with it. There was a small amount of blood found on her foot fur but there wasnt much, very little. This morning she seems to be using it less, she is still eating well and seems ok walking around. She is an old rabbit now probably around 8 or 9 years old what should I do? Please help, many thanks Rhian.

  • swelling - cats paw

I have a 2 yr old male, indoor cat. Approx. 4 weeks ago he began limping and his right, front paw became swollen. I took him to the vet where he was examined and x-rays were taken. There was no obvious reason for the swelling. I was sent home with pain meds for him, and although he favors it once in awhile, it appears to be healing. This morning I noticed him limping again, and now it is his left, back paw, and it looks like it is starting to swell. Any ideas what might be going on? My biggest concern is his pain level, and I know cats mask their pain quite well. I have 2 other cats, and they all get along well. Although he is still playing with them, it is not...

  • My dog, a 10 year old rat terrier mix, is having serious difficulties.lately she has been having strange seizures where her body locks up and she just whines and sometimes loses control of her bladder. now she has lost basic use of her left set of legs. She can't balance and has become lethargic and lost appetite. Her eyes also sometimes go cockeyed. She refuses to eat but we can get her to drink. Apart from that she just lays there and sleeps or whines. We are scared of a vet visit do to the cost. what could possibly be going on so we know what we could be looking at cost wise and especially if she'll be around much longer....

  • Worrying about my ill dog

Hi, I've got a 14 month old Lhasa Apso and we took him to the vets after he kept being sick, bringing up yellow liquid only. We took their advice and starved him 24 hours and then fed him bland rice and chicken. He also had some injections to help him whilst there and since then he has become really lethargic and sleeps most of the day. He seems weak, like humans do when they are ill. Also, tonight i woke him up to make him get a drink and whilst stroking him he started wimpering as though i was hurting him! What should i do? I'm worrying about him but i'm confused how to make him better. please help chris

  • Help - Baby Goat With Bloat

We have a 12 week old nubian goat that we have been treating for bloat for 5 days and there has been no change in his condition. We have seen several vets and they keep giving us mixed advice. The poor goat just lays down all day crying and we have tried sodium bicarbonate, mineral oil, cooking oil and massaging and nothing seems to be working. Is there anything else that we can try? He is still able to get up and walk, but he spends almost all day laying down.
