Hi, my name is Alexandria and I am 14 years old. I have a cat named Reeses, and he has been acting wierd lately. He eats more, has gained weight, pulls his fur out and grooms it more than often by his lower back right before his tail. He has occasional diarrhea, scratches more than usual and he is about 3 1/2 years old. My cat also meows non-stop. When you touch his back where he pulls his fur out, he starts to lick or bit somthing, almost like a spasim.

Cat's middle has blown up
Posted on 2009/03/31 by UserMy cat has blown up like a balloon. That's exactly how her flanks feel when I press on them. I don't feel anything hard. She looks like she swallowed a bowling ball. And it's not overeating, as she gets the same measure of kibble she always has. Is there pathology here?

A Puzzling Case
Posted on 2009/04/11 by UserOur Miniature Dachshund, Josie, has numerous hard, nearly baseball-sized swellings around her neck and chest area. She is also appears morbidly obese, - though she gets 1 cup of food each day - and smaller, softer "fatty tumors" can be felt throughout her back and stomach area. These lumps have been aspirated by our veterinarian and have been concluded as only fatty tumors. However, they have continued to grow and are to the point that they are inhibitory to her ability to walk, eat, breathe, etc. Within the last few weeks, Josie has begun showing swelling in her lymph nodes. She also exhibits a nasal and sometimes anal discharge that is yellowish and...

Enlarged liver, fever and elevated liver...
Posted on 2009/04/16 by WendyMy parents' 8 year old Golden Retriever has been gaining weight significantly and was put on thyroid medication for the last few months. Despite the medication, he has continued to gained weight. He presents with high thirst but also urinates frequently. He has very little appetite and within the last week, he has refused food, is running a fever of 103˚ and his CBC revealed a high white cell count as well as elevated liver enzymes. He was put on Penicillin two days ago and is still running the same temperature and now appears depressed, also still refusing food. The vet took an xray of his liver which revealed it is enlarged. They could not make out much else on the...

My dog is 8 year old chihuahua and it is over-weight. He doesn't like exercise and lately he's been experiencing some problems. He has been limping for three days now and since he is not active, I don't believe it has sprained anything. I've done some research and I think it could possibly be Degenerative Joint Disease (Osteroarthiritis). Please help me, this dog is the first dog I ever had and it breaks my heart to see it hurt.
