My Chihuahua has a red spot and purple discoloration on her abdomen, thigh and leg, with swelling on her inner thigh. There is irration and redness around her anus. She is not eating and is listless. What to do?

Can't Won't Eat
Posted on 2008/05/09 by HildaMy 13 year old cat had surgery last week to have some growths removed from her ears. Her ears are fine now but she has been back to the vet and emergency hospital several times because she isn't eating (she did not have this issue prior to the surgery). She is obviously hungry (she begs for her treats) but she either won't eat or won't keep the food in her mouth. It appears that she is having trouble smelling the food. Could this inability to smell be a result of the surgery, the anesthesia (she had gas, not a tube in her mouth), or Clavamox (she vomited after one dose so we stopped it)? Have you ever seen anything like this? I'm desperate to help my cat and get...

Posted on 2008/05/13 by CarolHi, I've got a 9 year old male cat, Humunculus, who just lost his biological brother (same litter - always been together) to heart problems. My problem is that the cat seems to be mourning and I can't help him. He's lost weight; he isn't grooming himself, he's not hunting; he just lays around. If he sees me, he meows at me at doesn't really move a lot. He looks and sounds sad. My husband thinks I'm personifying him. Humunculus is usually pretty active and an avid hunter. He loves to cuddle with me and sit on my lap. Now I have to find him, pick him up, and he seems to just tolerate it. He's able to move - he just seems to be going through the day like a zombie. ...

Vomiting Puppy
Posted on 2008/06/11 by Elyour 12 wk old puppy was put on clavamox on saturday afternoon for tracheitis and since then she has had no appetite. Yesterday she threw up bile 3 times but ate well last night and kept her food down. Today, however, she has not wanted to eat anything. We force fed her 3.5 oz of wet puppy food but she threw it all up about 2 hours after eating it. We think that the antibiotics might be causing the problems but we don't know if we should stop them. What should we do? Thank you very much.

My 11 year old dog has been very lethargic lately and his eye membrane is coming up on his eyes. Is it the flu or a cold? He has also had several episodes over the last few months where he breathes in very sharply almost like a wheez and this will go on for several minutes and sometimes even longer. The vet told us it was like a backwards hiccup. Are these related?

Hypoglycemic Puppy Won't Eat After Nutri-Cal
Posted on 2008/08/30 by WendyWe got a 7 week old Yorkie puppy Tuesday. Wednesday she had to be taken to the vet with seizures. They believed it was hypoglycemia, perked her back up and said if she does it again come back. She started it again this morning so I took her back to the vet's office. Again, hypoglycemia. She ate just before we went to bed last night but sometime during the night this all came on. (She ate probably 5 times yesterday.) Food and water are left out so all she has to do is eat. Today they gave me a tube of Nutri-Cal and told me to give it to her every 30 minutes til she eats. That was about 11am, it's now almost 9pm and she still won't eat. Has only taken a sip or two of water...
