  • nuetering

Yesterday, I reluctantly had my dog nuetered. I brought him in at 8:30 am and went to pick him up at 5:30pm that afternoon. When they brought him out, he was still somewhat out of it. I even questioned whether he knew me or not. He had been through a lot and I just assumed he would snap out of it later in the night That he just needed more time to recover. The tech, at the last minute of me ready to take him, looked concerned and checked his gums for color then wanted the dr to check him one last time to be sure he was ok before I left. Well, he did and found he was bleeding internally as his gums were white. He told me thank god that the tech noticed this as he...

  • problem with my lab

My eight year old lab/shepherd/beagle mix is not doing well. She is 38 lbs and last Saturday she began vomiting and had diarrhea. She went to the Vet and they did a barrium swallow which turned up negative for any blockage. When she returned home the next day she trhew up water, so the Vet wanted to see her again and then gave her a shot and some meds (cerrenia) to stop the vomiting and she has been keeping water down and it is moving through her nicely, but she won't eat, is very lethargic and her back ends shakes when she breathes. I don't want to keep taking her in at $100 or more per visit when my Vet doesn't seem to have any clear vision of how to proceed. ...

  • My dog isn't feeling well. It hurts her to get up or lay down at all. She is very stiff in doing so because I'm under the impression flexing her throat muscles (possibly her thryroids) is painful. She hasn't had a BM in 2 1/2 days. She ate 2 cans of food hand fed, but hasn't drank hardly any water. She's had the shivers on and off, but doesn't appear to be cold. It's Sunday and not many vets are open. I really can't afford to go to the vet anyhow. I've been thinking she ate something she shouldn't have, but really cannot tell for sure. If she did, I'm curious to know if there is some kind of doggie ex lax I can buy for her, or if possibly human ex lax would not...

  • Sick

We have a 7 yr. old Siberian Husky that is sick. We have given her medications for tapeworm, heart worm and round worm. We have given her vitamins. She will not eat, and it appears that she is having trouble with bowel movements. This morning, she did not want to get up, and is very weak.

  • Chiggers

We have a 5 year old Golden Retriever. He got into chiggers (or they got into him) last week. The first couple of days we just thought that it was an ear infection that he was scratching at so we were treating the ear infection, but we just realized two days ago that he had chiggers. He has a nasty oozing place about the size of a fist just under his left ear. We bathed him and poured peroxide on the site and let it bubble out. We followed that by a treatment of Revolution. Is there anything else we can do? We tried to shave it, but he really put up a fight. Is there anything topically that we can put on it or do we need to get him a sattelite to stop him from...

  • SICKNESS

I have a cat that is 5yrs old. She has been to our local vet clinic and they can not find anything wrong with her. She is coughing, sneezing, discharge of clear slime from her mouth. She is not eating or drinking. Now back from vacation, she is worst. Her back legs are useless, she creeps with them. Our local vet had bloodwork done and claims there was nothing showing up. I now do not believe them. They prescribed a laxatone for her to take, when that was not working, I called and asked for an antibodiac. That seemed to help. She has thick substance coming out her eyes, which are now closed shut. Help. I do believe I am losing my cat.

  • claw injury

I have a Jack Russell & yesterday he started shivering/acting strange all of a sudden. After a good look at him, I saw that he lost most of one of his front claws (.5 cm pink quick showing) - it's actually the bottom part of his claw (the top and front is intact). So I cleaned it, put neosporin on it & wrapped it up to keep him from putting to much weight on it. That seemed to help - he is not shivering anymore, but he still won't eat ... he just lays on his back & sleeps. Is there something else I should do? How long could this take to heal? Thanks
