A bug bite?????
Posted on 2009/08/13 by lisaMy dog was outside and came back in the house with a sore spine. We think he may have been bitten by something. His spine is now covered in a scab that is uncomfortable for him. How can I help him?

Dogs leg swollen from insect bite
Posted on 2009/08/15 by UserMy dog started limping suddenly, I felt the leg and noticed a swelling about the size of a quarter. Now the whole top portion is very swollen, it's the inner part opposite of the elbow pads. Is there any thing I should do, he's just doing his usual napping, and not acting any different other than the limp. How long does it usually take for swelling to go down? We have grass in the yard, and ants, but I've never seen this happen to him before. Any advice is appreciated.

She is 11 yrs.old. has a lump on her nipple, aspiration done, cancer but non agressive. Vet wants to take out all the glands (if the cancer has spread), pull a baby tooth which never fell out, clean all her teeth and spade her (property terminology for a femail dog?), She weights 4 lbs. and is smaller then a teacup size dog. She is a mini-pin. I want to just take out the lump and leave her be. She is too tiny and too old to have this all done at once. Vet is insisting in the surgery. Center has a state and county lien so I suspect that they want the money and have no interest in the dog but I could be wrong.

skin condition
Posted on 2009/08/15 by UserA couple of days ago I noticed some red spots underneath the chin and back of the head on my 4 year old Rottweiler. I have been cleaning them with warm water and the problem got no worse. When I woke up this Morning he had been scratching at it. The area has become inflamed, red, and pussy, there is quiet a strong odour and it seems to be sore to the touch. He doesn’t seem to be paying it much attention and has continued to eat. He doesn’t seem to be as full of energy as normal and won’t leave my side. I have tried to contact my vets but have been unsuccessful, do you know what it might be? And what action should I take till he can be seen by a vet?

We noticed a lump on our 7yr old Jack Russell. It is soft and movable and situated on the chest, between the 2 front legs. Any ideas what could be causing this? It does not seem to be bothersome to the dog

Tired and bloodshot Yorkie dog.
Posted on 2009/08/17 by UserMy dog's eyes are bloodshot and squinty, he has little red bites all over and is very tired all the time. He is also biting himself all over like he's itchy but we can't find any fleas. He was bit by a friend's dog a week ago and the scabbed wound is a deep red/purple now.

Swollen ribs
Posted on 2009/08/18 by UserMissy was gone for a day, not sure if she got hit by a car or what happened. Her right side rib cage area is swollen, has some discomfort but no trouble breathing. Will this problem heal by itself?
