Our 17 year old cat has stopped eating and sleeps most of the time. She has lost a significant amount of weight. She has always been very healthy but now I think she is in the process of dying. We don't want to have her put down, we would like her to die at home with us. Is there a time frame once she has stopped eating?

I have an 11 year old, weighing 6kg, female west highland terrier. she recently began to have tremors and not being able to walk very well on her back legs. the tremors last about 4 minutes, and her breathing increases to panting and she begins to drool. and then she seems to be very weak and tired once the tremor has passed. i took her to the vet and he prescribed her diazepam 5mg to be taken twice a day. However i live in egypt and was only able to find it in a form of a pill. i am now concerned that she is getting worse. she can hardly walk, has unfocused eyes and her nerves seem to twitch. the vet told me that this is a longterm medication for a few weeks, until the...

need help understanding why our family...
Posted on 2009/09/05 by TammyLet me start by saying that we are very saddened that our 10 yr old sheltie passed today and I am simply looking for a more definitive reason. 2 yrs ago he was diagnosed with autoimmune deficiency and hypothyroid. was placed on long term steroids and thyroid meds. seemed to immediately respond. within the last several weeks has been disoriented, aggressive, and within the last week not able to get up on his own. has been at vet since tuesday afternoon and steadily got worse. Non-responsive and sudden onset of seizures.

Pain Relief
Posted on 2009/09/06 by UserI need help with my schnauzer. He was just diagnosed as diabetic a couple of days ago. He's in obvious discomfort right now - though not critical as best as I can tell - and I'm not sure what to do. His vet is closed until Tuesday. (Today is Sunday) I brought him in to see the vet two days ago after he was visibly not himself. He was drinking and urinating a lot. He urinated in the house, which he never does. He vomited and had loose stool. After blood work at the vet, his blood sugar came back insanely high. He was diagnosed with diabetes and put on Vetsulin. We brought him back yesterday morning so the vet could monitor his blood sugar. It was still high, but a...

Dog Vomiting
Posted on 2009/09/10 by UserMy 2 year old boxer vomits on occassion. We took him to a vet that said that it was due to trouble clearing bile and to give him some yogurt and sensitive stomach food. We have but lately he is vomiting more frequently. He has lower energy, but still has burst like when I get home and to go on short walks. Could this be due to an allergy, digestive issue, or something more serious?

can a cat suffer from Post Traumatic...
Posted on 2009/09/12 by UserI found my cat, Snowflake, yesterday in the backyard (we have nearly an acre), completely wrapped up in the netting of the full-sized batting cage. When I reached her, she had wrapped the netting around her neck several times and was completely stuck. She obviously had struggled to get out and had ensconced herself into the netting more each time. I was able to cut her out of the netting. Since then, she has been acting almost as if she is plagued by PTSD. Last night, her eyes were swollen and the eye sockets (not the eyes themselves) were red. She is very lethargic, was breathing very heavily early on last night, but then got to the point where she was breathing...
