guinea pigs (not sadie)
Posted on 2007/12/27 by julieEvery time we get guinea pigs (we always get 2) they live for a few months maybe a year and they die. They don't eat or drink much if at all, their eyes become dull and sink in and they eventually lay on their side with shallow breathing. They blead through their but as we discover when we go to burry them. They got clened out every 3 days. We have a rabbit inside as well as Zebra Finches and a dove. They all are in one room. We tried disenfecting the cage and even let it sit for a year and a half before getting any more. Our rabbit isn't affected at all. Any ideas what might be happening and is ther any point to getting new ones?

strange behavior in old dog
Posted on 2008/01/03 by KathyMy 11 year old husky/sheperd mixed breed has been acting strangely for the past few days. She seems like she is afraid of something. She follows me around and trys to hide in small spaces. Right now she is laying behind the couch. She just doesn't seem right. Any ideas. I have heard that dogs will go off on their own and hide when they are dying, but she has been very healthy all her life.

shaking, possible fever
Posted on 2008/01/06 by UserA week ago my dog was released from the vetinarian hospital complete with sonograms and blood tests indicating an enlarged liver and spleen. The doctor said that his platelets were low in amount as well, but two days after being discharged from the hospital, we took him back to the hospital, and the doctor infromed us that his platelet levels were normal again. After recovering he was fine for the last two days, but today he showed symptoms of shaking and heavy breathing again. He's been taking the antibiotics "antirobe" and "baytril chewable", but he seems to be reverting back to his previous state. He also seems feverish; his ears are very warm....

Sudden onset of gait change
Posted on 2008/01/14 by UserI have a 10 year old male/neutured Siamese mix, 14.5lb. He developed a sudden strange gait (slight limp of hind legs and lowered posture) overnight and began circling to his left in tight circles upon picking him up and setting him down. No vomiting, nystagmus, head tilt, however no appetite. Couldn't climb inside litter box. About 10 hrs later after receiving ~130ml fluids via IV, he stopped the circling and his gait is almost back to normal. Appetite returned. His CBC and chem profile came back normal except for blood glucose ~227. He still walks down the hallway very closely along the left wall. He walked into an object on his left twice. No obvious ear...

I have a cat who is about one, maybe one and a half years old. I've had him since last September, but only recently has he started sneezing. It's been a few days, and he's also got a slight wheeze sometimes, as well as really watery eyes. I've also noticed he has some kind of a scab on his paw, which he has also favored/limped on since we've got him. This is also new. Could the two issues be connected? Also, he is an indoor cat. A very lazy indoor cat. He doesn't really put on weight, no matter what, or how much he eats. This really worries me. Please help.
