I have a guiena pig and recently i put a plug in air freshener in the same room as her and she has become very lethargic and she's just been lying down. what can i do out besides removing the air freshener and venting out her room? Do i need to take her straight to the vet.

Very Sick Cat
Posted on 2009/03/25 by UserWe live on a farm and have a stray cat that has been hanging around. We bought goats last week and one of them passed away yesterday. This morning the cat was lying on my porch, seemed almost paralyzed, unable to move except head, twitching, labored breathing. Any clue what it could be and do you think it could be related to whatever killed the goat?

dog poisoning
Posted on 2009/04/03 by UserApproximately a month ago our dog was poisoned; sadly she did not live very long after arriving at the vet’s office. There was no blood work done so we do not know what she was poisoned with. We do believe we know who did it but would like to know what she was poisoned with. She was a mutt weighing 40lbs and 7 years old at the time. Her symptoms were: foul odor, bleeding from her female parts, she was trying to vomit but couldn’t, she would not move, on the way to the vet’s, she would stiffen up and shake, then relax and whine. The vet said her gums were hemorrhaging and scarring. Whatever it was caused her kidneys to fail as well and that is what killed her. Is...

lethargic dog
Posted on 2009/04/11 by UserWe adopted a chihuahua mix 5 months ago (Doc). He is 7 months old. we adopted a poodle mix about 2 weeks ago (Ted). He is 4 months old. I took them to the vet 4 days ago and they were diagnosed with kennel cough. Doc had a kennel cough vaccine in January and does not cough as much as Ted. Even Ted usually only coughs at night. They are both on antibiotics. Doc has increasingly become lethargic since Ted joined our family. Now, Doc has vomitted about once or twice a day for 4 days. (Yellow frothy). He doesn't eat much and is extremely lethargic. Any ideas what is going on? Ted sleeps ALOT, but plays more than Doc also.

Dehydration/Emergency or not?
Posted on 2010/03/10 by LeslieOn Monday, I gave my 1 1/2 year old shih-tzu, Bella, a dose of nutri-cal according to the package instructions- (3 tsps). Because she has not been eating well since we got a new puppy a month ago. Monday night around 9 pm, she started having diarrhea and then vomitting. This continued all night and morning. I tried giving her water w/med. dropper but she vomitted it also. I took her to the local vet today. He said that he assumes that the vomitting/diarrhea is from too much nutri-cal & from being so nervous (she also went to the groomers Monday). He gave me "Gastrosol" to give her (1cc, 3x/day until no vomitting). She is still vomitting (after only 2 ccs...

Liver Biopsy
Posted on 2010/03/19 by CarolHello Rae, Many thanks for your prompt reply. I am relieved to know that the biopsy in itself has not contributed to increased symptoms. I do not think they checked for copper with the biopsy. The CBC biochemical profile shows all the components of the test as normal except for Alkaline Phosphatase 3290 U/L (reference interval 22-143); S-Alk Phosphatase 3027 U/L (ref int 0-84); ALT 266 (ref interval 19-107) and CK 275 U/L (ref interval 40-255. A cushing test was done. Is this the bile acid profile? Pre corisol result 173.0 nmol/L ref int 30-300. 3hr Post
