This is an update to the previous question that I had asked. Our Vet called and had posted Bubbles' X-rays to a website for other vets to look at. They said the Rad's showed no abnormalities and one tiny area where there is arthritis near the tip of her tail. Other than that it all looked great. Since my last question she has started dragging her left hind leg a little bit which prompted the X-rays which were taken on 3/11/08. And when we woke up this morning to give her a morning pain pill we noticed that she is starting to drag her other hind leg as well. Just not as bad as the left side. She has now stopped taking the Deramaxx and is now taking Tramadol 50mg every 8...

Pain Reliever
Posted on 2008/03/18 by PatMy older cat has been limping for quite some time and now occasionally she will not use her right front leg. I believe she may have developed arthritis in that leg. Is there a safe over the counter pain reliever that I can give her?

treatment for 15-year-old dog with brain tumor
Posted on 2008/05/13 by UserI have a 15-year-old Wheaten Terrier with all the symptoms of a tumor in the cerebellum according to the neurologist at the vet school here -- intention tremor, right head tilt, lack of use of back legs, fecal incontinence, crying and panting at night. On the plus side, he has a very good appetite. The vet did not recommend an MRI because he said the dog was too old for surgery or radiation treatment which would require a general anesthetic. We are palliatively treating him with acupuncture and Chinese herbs (from the vet school). My question is: Are we giving up too easily? Should we be more aggresive with the treatment? Are 15-year-old dogs too old to be treated? ...

Ibuprofen for pain to dog?
Posted on 2008/06/30 by UserCan I give my lab mix an ibuprofen tablet. when we went to bed last night he was fine, this morning he doesn't want to seem to walk. He ran really hard this weekend playing and chasing a tennis ball. Could it be really sore muscles? My daughter just called and she said he is walking but shaking while he is walking.

Pepper jumped off of our bed about about a week ago.He sounded like he landed a little hard. He was okay the first couple of days except he wouldnt jump on the bed or anything. Then he suddenly stopped walking. He would only drag himself aroun. We carried him to the vet. They did spinal hip and skull xrays, Everything came back normal. They also did bloodwork which was normal. They really have no explanation for what is wrong. They sent him home on prednisone. They said he may walk in a few days or it could be weeks. They just dont know, He does'nt seem to be in any pain and he is very alert. He also eats really well. I have noticed since he has been home he...

rear leg lameness
Posted on 2008/09/11 by MarkOur 11 y/o aus shep? mix is displaying signs of rear leg lameness. Difficulty getting up from lying down and getting onto the couch were what we noticed first. She has developed a limp and drag when walking which seems to be worse on the left side with occasional tremors in her leg when standing. She’s not as high strung all the time like she used to be, but her personality has not changed. And we have seen absolutely no signs of pain. She will still chase the squirrels in the back yard and won’t yelp if she falls because she can’t run well anymore. Occasional incontinence (not urinary) and walking with an uncomfortable squat while defecating are also new. We have...

dog won't walk on rear leg. Didn't notice anything unusual when I took her on our morning walk, but when I got home from work, she is hopping around on three legs, with the "injured" leg curled up. I have a vet appointment tomorrow, and she doesn't cry when I touch her leg. Any ideas?
