Does Lupus mean my dog has to have medication for the rest of her life? Is it expensive? Is Lupus curable, if so, does it come back

Cockatiel bad leg
Posted on 2009/04/05 by UserI have a 12 year old male cockatiel. For the last two days now his left leg looks deformed and drags behind him. All his energy is being used by trying to stay upright using his beak, wing and the good leg, but he's unable to sleep as he falls over. I've found him on his back at the bottom of the cage twice. I did make a platform for him which is the width of the cage and up to the height of his feed pot but he just perches on the end of the pot.

Medical mystery...
Posted on 2009/04/06 by UserHello! I have a 9 year old lab. He has been sick for over a week, in and out of the vet, lots of test, and no clear answer. He started with a slight limp (that rapidly got worse in a matter of a few short days) after a lot of playing and running around outside, Not eating, High fever, and Swollen lymthnodes.I thought that hewas a little sore from playing so much outside (more than normal the days before this started) They were going with Lymes, the test for that came back borderline possitive!?They started him on steroids and 2 antibiotics. He was making daily progress and I thought we were on the road to recovery. He was acting like his normal self this morning and...

Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease
Posted on 2009/04/10 by UserMy 6 month old Morkie was diagnosed based on x-ray information today with Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease. This has inflicted her right hip and am told it could also move to her left hip. Recommended treatment is rather expensive surgery. Will surgery be a PERMANENT fix or will there be ongoing issues / problems to address? What is the likelihood it will also affect her left hip.

Posted on 2009/04/13 by Useri have a 7 yr old shitzu who is hunched over and in pain. she is shivering, and is not wanting to be touched. most of her pain seems to be in her back or maybe her stomach... Its very hard to locate where she hurts most... and she is slow to move around and cry's out in pain when she jumped off our couch. I haven't notice a lack in her eating, and she has no irregular bowl movments. She went from a happy pup to lathargic within the last 24 hours. She isn't vomiting, and we aren't sure what could be causing these symptoms. What do you recomend? We've givin her a small piece of asprin to help with what ever discomfort she's in...

Liver cancer?
Posted on 2009/04/23 by UserMy 8-9 year old Akita mix has 1) bouts of diarrhea for almost 1 year. Diagnosed with a high level of bacteria and treated with Amforal and various antibiotics, still recurs about once a month, 2) two malignant tumors that were successfully removed in October - one was breast cancer tumor - systemic - and the other was on her face, not systemic, but could recur, 3) spinal arthritis, so in pain sometimes and treated with dermax, 4) now has enlarged liver and high enxyme count, but no other signs of tumors or swollen lymph nodes or cancer, is on a liver cleansing pill (can't remember name now!), and 5) has lost almost 10 lbs. in the last six - seven months. Shows loss of...
