I have 6yr mn st bernard, for past 18 mths, has had neck pain intermittantly, metacam and rest have allowed relief of symptoms, had mri and diagnosed disc disease, what exactly does this mean, what is the prognosis, is there danger of prolapse or paraylsis. Also he started with lameness in front right leg, had x-rays, mri which didn't show anything no arthritis, bone tumours or dysplasia, vet said he has pain in elbow when he examined him, what could be wrong with his leg if above things are ruled out, they have taken joint fluid samples from shoulder and elbow (waiting for results from fluid), could the disc disease affect the leg, or could it be two seperate...

laceration
Posted on 2009/01/27 by UserMy collie/ shepard mix has a la\eration from coral on her front left pad. It (the wound) is 3 days old and slightly swollen. She was walking on it at first, but now refuses to use it at all. I have cleaned it daily... like to know what type of antibiotics are needed and if they are available over-the-counter.

Australian Cattle Dog Labored Breathing
Posted on 2009/01/28 by AlisonI have a 14 year old Australian Cattle Dog who recently suffered a bad reaction to some arthritis medication and began throwing up blood. She did this for two days (less blood on the second day, and we were thinking stomach ulcer). We took her to the vet, and are now giving her a subcuetanous injection of a stomach antacid and an injectable antibiotic so she doesn't catch something else because she's so weak. The vet also gave us special high calorie adult dog food (4 cans the size of catfood cans), which as of two days after the vet visit (today), she has eaten all of (a few tablespoons every hour). We have also been giving her unflavored pedialite for electrolytes....

Listless, Disorented. Something is wrong.
Posted on 2009/01/29 by UserMy cat is diabetic and has been doing fine for about a year. She gets 8 units of insulin a day. We recently switched her over to just canned food, because she was throwing up a few times a week, and it looked like it was mostly dry. (She used to eat only 1/3 of a can of wet food at a time, and had a dry food self feeder) Now she's been eating about 4 cans of wet food a day, and seemed to be feeling MUCH better. She was playing with us again, and bathing, which are things that she hasn't really been doing much of in years. In fact, last night, she was just fine and happy playing with me. However, later last night, she was listless, and seeming uncomfortable. Then this...

Dachsund needs help!
Posted on 2009/02/01 by UserWe have a one year old dachsund. She's been in good health until the other morning we noticed she was limping on one of her front legs. Twelve hours later she couldn't stand up at all or walk/move. She looks ill, and doesn't really have a want for food or water. She wines sometimes, and shakes sometimes. She literaly won't move, and isn't the same dog. I don't think this has anything to do with leg injuries. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
