croaky miaow
Posted on 2008/02/21 by CMy cat lost her miaow a couple of months ago. I took her to the vets who said it could be chronic laryngitis. He gave her an injection and tablets. The miaow came back quite quickly. But now she is sounding hoarse again. What could be the problem?

Our Collie, Finn, has had diarrhea for about 1 week now. We think it is due to a food sensitivity because we have been transitioning him to a higher quality food. However the diarrhea has gone on too long now and there was blood in it last night. What can we give him or feed him that will stop the diarrhea? Do Collie's have any common food sensitivities or allergies? Do you hav any recommendations for a high quality dog food or a homemade dog food recipe? Thank you.

dental concerns
Posted on 2008/02/28 by UserMy 1 1/2 year old cat went to the vet for a teeth cleaning this morning after at her routine yearly exam it was discovered she had excessive tartar and plaque build up. A few minutes ago, the vet called to advise me to test for the feline leukemia virus as this may be a sign of the virus. Is this probable? What else may cause tartar buildup in such a young cat? She is playful, eats well, and no other signs of any diseases, does have some signs of crust around her nose though as if a runny nose. I have 3 other cats that are all 5 months older than her, and all indoor cats. Any advice? I'm going crazy waiting for the test results and her phone call!

Bleeding cat
Posted on 2008/03/05 by johnHi, I am quite worried about my cat and would appreciate any help you could provide. We noticed her wheezing and found drops of blood where she had been sitting. Upon inspection, we realised the blood had come from her nose. We took her to the vets, who said she had an ear infection with small polyps inside them. They gave her a steroid injection and some ear drops for us to put in. We have done this and her ears they say are better. However, her occasional wheezing has returned and there has once more been blood from her nose. We believe the return of these two symptoms came as the steroid injection was due to wear off. We have a further appointment in...

What are the directions for dipping with...
Posted on 2008/03/05 by BurlaMy 94 year old mother adopted a rescue dog (Rosie) about a month ago. She scratches constantly and sometimes whimpers when she scratches. I took her for a check up and the vet found no fleas, etc. There are no obvious spots to check for mange. I was told to give her Benadryl to see if it helped. It did not. We had a prescription for Paramite from an earlier dog and I dipped her with that solution. Unfortunately I have lost the directions except to use 1 oz. with 1 gallon of water and sponge onto the entire body. How long do I need to wait before I dip her again? How many times should I expect to dip her before I can stop? Do you have other suggestions?
