Itching & scratching

  • Flea allergy in cats

Moon is a four year old mixed breed cat. I was told two years ago that he has an allergy to fleas. Because of severly limited finances, I can't afford a truly effective way of destroying the infestation completely...and the best I've been able to do for Moon himself has been over-the-counter flea treatments. They've helped a little...but VERY little. This summer Moon's allergy seems more extreme - he's scratched himself bloody around his neck, and seems to have tiny scabs all over. I've bathed him with anti-flea shampoo, but it doesn't seem to help that much. He's very uncomfortable, and it's breaking my heart. Is there ANY way of helping him, without...

  • allergies and colloidal silver

my boxer dog suffers with allergies all year round, dust mites and pollen affect her the worst. she is currently on atopica 100mg once a day (a lower dose is not as affective) although this works for her she gets an upset stomach and we struggle to get the tablet into her every day (very stressful for both of us) also it works out quite expensive (200 euros a month). have you ever treated a dog successfully with colloidal silver?

  • itching dog

my 3 yr. old shih tzu is scratching terribly. he has always chewed/licked himself, but seems to be more pronounced now. his skin is bright pink like a sun burn. I'm giving him benadryl as perscribed by our vet. his diet is lamb and rice based. our vet thinks he has a food allergy and we've tried a venison and potatodiet and a rabbir and potato diet but he got very sick trying those foods. any thoughts?

  • Skin

My mini Schnauzer has red bumps, and what looks like small clumps of dirt mostly concentrated along his spine and lower back. I'm not quite sure how to treat this other than bathing to get off the dirt-like stuff on his back.

  • Dog rash

My dog (a 3 year old pug-rat terrior mix) has a bad rash on her paws and stomach. We try to stop her from biting herself raw but its real bad! She has a red blemish close to her nipple that she keeps chews on. We just found some in her ear too! We've stopped all treats and changed food but that didn’t help. We've given her oatmeal baths and put aloe on her. We found fleas in the house but we medicated her. Do have any other suggestion of stopping the madness?

  • skin condition

A couple of days ago I noticed some red spots underneath the chin and back of the head on my 4 year old Rottweiler. I have been cleaning them with warm water and the problem got no worse. When I woke up this Morning he had been scratching at it. The area has become inflamed, red, and pussy, there is quiet a strong odour and it seems to be sore to the touch. He doesn’t seem to be paying it much attention and has continued to eat. He doesn’t seem to be as full of energy as normal and won’t leave my side. I have tried to contact my vets but have been unsuccessful, do you know what it might be? And what action should I take till he can be seen by a vet?
