My jack russell is 5 yrs old and he is bitting on his feet and removing the hair. I notice scabs are forming. I have not changed his diet. I took him to a vet and he said that it could be atopy, contact allergy or food allergy. He gave my dog a shot but now my dog is doing it again. I would like to know more about atopy. Please help!

Itching & Scratching
Posted on 2008/01/26 by LeeI have a 6 month old puppy I got from a rescue centre when he was 5 months old - since neutering he keeps scratching himself and biting himself all of the time - despite not having fleas and his skin looking clear. He is creating bald patches where he has been biting and clawing. He is also now scared of vets and having sudocream put on. Please help, what can I do to stop him scratching and gnawing himself excessively and how can I gain him to go to a vet again?

Tale Licking
Posted on 2008/01/28 by ThomasShe is licking her tale to the point where the hair at the base of the tale and 1/4 of the way up the tale is bare. No signs of fleas and she is an indoor cat. The skin is red and irritated due to her constant licking. There may be a few small red bumps. Any idea what this is or how I can treat it.

Cat with wound
Posted on 2008/02/18 by DeanHi, we are cat sitting for a pair of male sibling cats. One has an old wound on his neck, which has turned into an open soar from scratching. It is growing in size as he won't stop scratching it. It doesn't appear infected and we are trying to put ointment on it as often as we can. Any ideas on what to do?
