severe itchy skin
Posted on 2008/09/25 by Usermy dog (small mix breed) has been scratching SOOO much, mostly near the base of his tail on all sides - I think it may be allergies. We use Hill Science diet food for sensitive skin, give him olive oil from time to time (recommended by our vet) and have tried benedryl - nothing works and I know he must be miserable - how can I relieve his itch ??

my pet was injuried at by the groomer
Posted on 2008/09/25 by DUSTIN MCFARLANDI took my dog into Petco, to be groomed yesterday morning. When we pick them up everything appeared fine, until closer inspection. I noticed my dogs eye was weeping a lot on one side, I called the groomer and she new which eye it was and said it happening a home? Later in the conversion she asked if was bleeding... I thought that was strange. I few hours later I realize he was excessively pawing his eye, thats when i know it happening at the groomers. Because I would have noticed it, he would have been doing it earlier at home. Upon closer in spection I noticed his brow and eye lid area is cut or scratched, I cant tell because of the crusting and weeping arounded the are ...

Concerned
Posted on 2008/09/24 by Laurie KesterI have a boxer/collie mix. She is 3 years old and a little princess!! The past week or week and a half she has been rubbing her behind on the carpet. She's not "scooting" across the floor, but she's making complete circles as if she's scratching her behind. I didnt think anything of it untill I noticed her "private part" is really swollen. She is not acting any different or her appetite isnt any different other than that and there have been a few nights this past week that she's thrown up and it seems she has to go "tinkle" more than usual. She still wants to play and she's still active and hyper and what not. I'm not sure why or what has cau ...

Runny Eyes and Excessive Scratching on Snout
Posted on 2008/09/18 by Lisa BenoitBuster is a Bullmassive/Shepard Mix about 12 years old... Just recently he has been itching his eyes and snout excessivly. He has accumulated excessive eye discharge (sleepers/boogers) which I clean out usually every other day. His eyes are reddened around the crevice of his eyes as well as above his snout from the excessive scratching. I have bathed him with hartz shampoo (as I have always done) and ensured he had no fleas or ticks. What's wrong w/my Buster?

butt scratching
Posted on 2008/09/16 by UserI have a 2 year old pug dog and she keeps scratching her butt on the carpet. It did have a sour for a couple of days but I put animal save on it and it got better. She has always scratched her butt on the carpet since she was about 6 months old but now she is doing it a bit more. What is causing her to need to scratch her butt and is it normal?

hair loss in hamster
Posted on 2008/09/16 by UserHi! We bought a dwarf hamster about a month ago. At the time he had a small bald spot on his back just a bit smaller than a dime. We kept this hamster for about 2 1/2 weeks and during that time he lost quite a bit more hair. The hair loss was kind of in stripes across his back and he was scratching some. The skin was dry and a little bumpy too. There was a few spots that looked scabby like he bled from the scratching. We took him back to the pet store and they inspected him for mites, but did not see any and had never seen hair loss like his. They thought it may be allergies to the bedding, but he lived with non-allergic paper bedding before we got him and had already sta ...
