My 14 year old border collie has started in the last three days drinking about 4 times as much water than he does normally. Historically he has never drank much and I always tried to get him to drink more. He isn't currently on any medication apart from 4ml zantac twice per day due to him having a serious reaction to his arthritus medicine about 6 months ago. I also noticed him gimacing whist passing urine but this could have been because of his arthritus. Should I be worried about his liver or a urine infection or should I wait and observe him for a few days over the bank holiay before going to the vet? Many Thanks.

If a 9 year old female cat were presented to a vet with the symptoms : vomiting and frequent and innappropriate urination outside of the litter box, would the correct treatment be to administer an injection of Metacam without first checking kidney function? I only ask because this has happened to me and a week after metacam injection, my beloved cat had kidney failure.

dog weeing blood
Posted on 2009/05/16 by UserMy rottweiler, Ruby, has recently started weeing blood, also when we walk her, she tries to wee every few minutes even though nothing comes out. She had come off her doggy period a month or so ago, and at first we thought it might just be the remains of that, but it seems to have gone on for quite a while. She has also been itching at her tail, and there is a bloody wound around her stump, this probably is a different problem all together, but it might be useful. Thanks, Rachael.

I have a 12 week old golden retriever. She has developed a mass under her coat above her left shoulder. It is egg shaped (but smaller) and slides around. This came up like overnight. it does not seem to cause her pain or discomfort. What could it be? Michelle Bernal

Urinary Problem
Posted on 2009/05/25 by UserHi Doctor, For the last couple of days I've noticed wet spots on my carpet. I saw my cat squatting so I know it's her. She's 13 and usually very fastidious about using her litter box which is kept very clean. She not acting like her usual bitchy self but is rather subdued. She is eating normally and drinking a lot of water and the strange thing is that when I clean the accidents up, the normal awful cat pee smell isn't there. It does smell like cat urine but very light. The color is a light yellow with no blood that I can see. I will get her to my vet ASAP but today is a holiday so I'll need to wait until tomorrow. Any ideas? Thank you so much, Tonette Black...
