Posted on 2008/10/26 by UserMy dog was diagnosed with immune mediated Thrombocytopenia on Friday. She was peeing blood, and had multiple petechiae on her belly which have turned into several large dark purple/blue patches about 4" in diameter. She has thrown up blood several times thursday night thru sunday am (looks like coffee grounds) puddles about the size of a dinner plate. She was given a shot of Vincristine in the office and is on Prednisone, cimetidine, and azathioprine. She has stopped eating, but does drink. The vomiting has slowed down, but the blood has not stopped in her urine. When she goes, it is not just tinged with blood, it looks like completely blood, and is now...

Frequent Urinary Tract Infections
Posted on 2008/10/28 by JennyMy four year old female labrador retriever has had about 2 to 3 urinary tract infections a year for the past three years. Our vet treats with antibiotics and the infection seems to clear up. She went to the vet three days ago and was diagnosed with another urinary tract infection. The vet put her on clavomox, 2, 250mg pills twice a day for ten days and gave her Hill's Perscription Diet c/d. The vet believes the infections may be caused by her food. We were feeding her Iams Active Health Large Breed. Would her diet really cause urinary tract infections? Is she getting the proper nurtition from the Prescription diet. Posted on 2008/11/04 by johnMy dog has been acting a little strange. He appears to have problems drinking water and has redness around the eyes. He constantly licks his tongue out. Skin around his mouth is hanging and eyes are drooping and red. Also has weight loss. I found atick on him and removed it but I think there maybe something else going on. Dog was drooling heavily appears to have slow down. Also red color was showing up in water bucket but not visible in mouth. A slight cough was presant but not consistent. Any ideas?

wounded cat?
Posted on 2008/11/06 by AmityMy cat is an indoor/outdoor cat. She was gone for about 3 days and came back yesterday. Her stomach is drawn in on both sides, almost looks like she just hasn't eaten in a while. But, I noticed that she has sort of a small puncture wound on one side. There's no blood, but appears to be oozing white-ish fluid. Not sure if she may have been in a cat fight or possibly shot w/bb gun. She's eaten only a little, but is urinating fine so far, appears to be sorta dehydrated. Please offer ANY advice. Thank you!

Digestive Disorder
Posted on 2008/11/08 by UserI have a fourteen-year old cat who started vomiting blood over the summer and I took her to the vet. The vet says she may have a digestive disorder and gave me steroids and a liquid to prevent her from throwing up. She's a small cat to begin with and she had lost some weight. When I brought her back she had gained a little and the vet advised to keep her on the medicine. She is now experiencing diarrea which has a horrid smell. She doesn't throw up as much but I'm not sure if she's getting the nutrition she needs. Should I give her vitamins or is there a Pediasure for cats? What should I do. Also, she's loving as ever and not hiding as cats do when they're sick. ...
