Is he ok??
Posted on 2008/09/20 by UserHi, we just got our dog from a shelter. He is one year old, and has kennel cough. He goes pee very often (about every 15 or 20mins) and his heart rate is beating pretty fast. Is this something we should be concerned about? He is on doxycycline for the kennel cough.

Blood in Urine
Posted on 2008/09/20 by UserMy year old Beagle has blood in her urine. My vet has done two urine labs, and both came up that a simple urinary track infection medication would cure it. Both medications have failed to do so. I have been told that its a possibility that the cause of the blood is due to her being fixed to early. The vets gave the go ahead to have her fixed right after she was old enough to have her rabies shot. The vets next step is to do a ultrasound, i would really like to get a couple second opinions before i spend that kind of money.

foot sores
Posted on 2008/09/15 by Cathy SadlonSara has sores on her paws. The front 2 are spots with dark skin. The back 2 are now red and inflammed. She licks them. After she started with these irritations she also got an ear infection. Could this be an allergy or a yeast infection?

Posted on 2008/09/14 by marilyn dayhi, this will be long, but i am scared. my pug has been fine until this friday. she came in heat around aug. 7, tried to keep her and male pug seperated. my son let them both out at the same time to go to take care of normal business when we got home. this was aug. 12 and i caught them. everything has been fine till now. first notice small clear wet spots on floor with a blood clot in them. four on one day, two the next day. she was still happy and full of energy. then noticed she was trembling, and then there was urine in blood. at first she dranked alot, now the only thing i can get her to drink is watered down milk with a egg in it.(i hope this safe) lost her appetite ...

Something More Serious?
Posted on 2008/09/08 by UserMy 3 year old Boston Terrier has had really bad gas for the last 4-5 days and he has been drinking a lot of water. No change in diet and I do not think he has got into anything he shouldn't have. Doesn't seem to be overly lethargic and he is still eating normally. Any idea what is going on?

Older Dog with a Nasty Cough
Posted on 2008/09/06 by Jackie NelsonHi, my dog has a hacking cough that started last night. The cough is coming from deep in his body, and he keeps almost coughing something up. A friend said he might have a hair ball and that I could administer the same hair ball treatment that you would give to a cat. Is this true? Does this sound like the issue with my dog? He is fine when he is not coughing; he plays and wants to walk; he is eating and drinking, although he may be drinking a bit more than usual. He has not vomited, although it appears as though he is trying to cough something up.

Will she be okay?
Posted on 2008/06/23 by karen mirWe just recently got a dog from a shelter and she is a one year old Chihuahua terrier mix. Since I brought her home she has had pneumonia, kennel cough, urinary tract infection and four weeks ago above her eye became inflamed...than the next morning she had a huge lump on the side of her head that was hard! Brought her to the vet and they did the antibiotics, benadryl and steroid shot....brought her home...it got worse...brought her back, they changed antibiotics...thought it was from a bunch of bee stings. Than last week she ended up getting a bunch of lumps everywhere! We brought her in again and they said we would have to bring her to a specialist, so we did and th ...

Help
Posted on 2008/06/15 by Michelle IsaakovMy 5 year old male cat has recently lost a lot of weight. At first it was gradual and seemed like a blessing as he was overweight. He seemed extremely playful, even more energetic than before. It seemed like nothing to worry about. It wasnt until just recently I started to believe him to be ill. Here are his symptoms: Weight loss, increased appetite to now no appetite, weaker and weaker especially in his back legs. I believe it to be diabetes but I dont know and I need help. He hasnt been to the vet since he was neutered about 2 years ago. We are taking him tomorrow but is there anything I can do right now to help? He wont eat but just keeps drinking which is upsetting hi ...

Is she in pain or suffering
Posted on 2008/06/05 by Brenda LorenzMy 7 year old shih tzu started having seizures on Christmas eve. She is on phenobarbitol for them. The vet I saw said the most likely cause is a brain tumor. The last few days she is drinking a lot more than usual. She is also utinating and having frequent bowel movements.I had her out twice this morning. I had to go out and she urinated on the floor. This is highly unusual for her. It is occuring more often. My suspision is kidney failure. My question is. Is she suffering? She doesn't show signs of pain but is getting a little crabbier. She normally has a great disposition. Just a little spoiled. She has now started panting when she needs to go out. This she has never do ...

Bleeding in Bowels
Posted on 2008/06/02 by Elizabeth FlickMy cat has had runny or very soft bowel movements for several days, and the last night and this morning there was blood as well. I also noticed that there appeared to be what looked like a small white string, or a substance similar to it, in the bowel movement. While she still seems happy enough and is playing (she is still a kitten about 12 weeks old), she does seem to be getting tired more quickly. Is there anything short of taking her to the vet I can do?

dog vomiting not eating
Posted on 2008/05/05 by UserMy min pin was on prednisone for less than a week 10 mg once a day. After a few days into it, he was drinking excessively. Five days ago he drank and then vomitted all the water back, drank some more and the same thing happened. He refused food so I took him to the vet and he diagnosed diabetes and a high white blood count. He is still not eating so they have him on an IV as of yesterday and only threw up once all weekend. Please help. I don't want to lose him. He's my baby.
