Although she has been showing small signs of what I thought to be arthritis in her back legs babe recently took a large step backwards(literally). She has since had a great deal of trouble walking straight and up stairs and is tilting her head a bit. any idea as to what may be happening?

my pet was injuried at by the groomer
Posted on 2008/09/25 by DUSTIN MCFARLANDI took my dog into Petco, to be groomed yesterday morning. When we pick them up everything appeared fine, until closer inspection. I noticed my dogs eye was weeping a lot on one side, I called the groomer and she new which eye it was and said it happening a home? Later in the conversion she asked if was bleeding... I thought that was strange. I few hours later I realize he was excessively pawing his eye, thats when i know it happening at the groomers. Because I would have noticed it, he would have been doing it earlier at home. Upon closer in spection I noticed his brow and eye lid area is cut or scratched, I cant tell because of the crusting and weeping arounded the are ...

WHAT HAPPENED
Posted on 2008/07/10 by Chaz Sivadit was hot today and my dog was wrestling with another.shortly afterward he seemed like he couldnt find his balance, started drooling (he never drools) staggered back and forth for a bit, i picked him up and he was still trying to walk in place for a bit, walked in circles, knocked over his water bowl while walking slowly, slightly sideways, and seemed to be somewhere else. i thought he was seriously dying, but shortly thereafter, he started playing and running around normal. i found him on the highway about 6 months ago, and noone knows what breed he is, but is apparently about 12 or 13 years old.

Has my kitty lost his love for life?
Posted on 2008/06/20 by UserMy loving cat, "Mr. Whiskers", for many months, has not been his active self. I have taken him to several vets wanting to know answers to his progressive symptoms: dragging of left hind leg (if he moves),staggering/falling, walking against walls, head tilt, hiding under the bed, lack of interest in play, lack of eating/urination, little meowing and more moaning, eye infection/lazy right eye, urination trouble (while I hold him) and seizures. Mr. Whiskers's vet placed him on 1/2 pill of Predisone every two days. In addition, I was told just to make him confortable since his demise could be near. Since his last seizure (about a month ago) Mr. Whiskers has b ...

Another Opinion
Posted on 2008/05/27 by UserMy cat has been diagnosed with (benign paroxysmal vertigo) by exclusion by the Neurologist. She was first thoroughly examined and treated by our vet (for any inner ear infection), and then examined by a Neuroligist. His findings stated above, with no specific cause found. When she has a relapse, we put her on 12.5 mg of Meclizine per day and this works fine to minimize the head tilt (somewhat), and relieve the dizziness& incoordination. She did have a fall a few years back when the first episode was noted. However both the vet and Neuroligist says that had nothing to do with this situation. My question (for a different opinion)...Is there anything else we ca ...

treatment for 15-year-old dog with brain tumor
Posted on 2008/05/13 by UserI have a 15-year-old Wheaten Terrier with all the symptoms of a tumor in the cerebellum according to the neurologist at the vet school here -- intention tremor, right head tilt, lack of use of back legs, fecal incontinence, crying and panting at night. On the plus side, he has a very good appetite. The vet did not recommend an MRI because he said the dog was too old for surgery or radiation treatment which would require a general anesthetic. We are palliatively treating him with acupuncture and Chinese herbs (from the vet school). My question is: Are we giving up too easily? Should we be more aggresive with the treatment? Are 15-year-old dogs too old to be treated? Or ...
