i have a cat that is 15 years old. One day he seemed to turn ill and we took him to his vet and he believes ha has severe feline asthma. After treating him for about 4 months he does not seem to be getting better. The xrays were sent out to be looked at and you can see the "doughnuts" but his exrays of his lungs are just getting more white. A second opinion just from looking at the xrays... possibly pneumonia also. My vet has not brought that up but i read that they are easily confused with one another. He has lost weight and also become weaker and wants to move around but has a hard time breathing. he never has a "good day". sometimes open mouth...

My 8 year old Dalmatian has become withdran, tired and cranky... He barely comes out of his room which is not like him at all and snaps at myself and my husband when we try to force him. This is completely out of character. A week ago his tail appeared injured (which happens about once a year, but that looks fine now and he let's us touch it). He does seems to be tense if I try to touch his hips or lower back (although that may be my imagination). He seems to be eating and doing his business as usual. Could something be wrong?

Dog is having severe reaction after grooming
Posted on 2009/06/12 by UserMy male Bichon puppy of 15 months was completely shaved by a groomer. After this he is not the same, and not even able to go for a walk. He only wants to be curled up in his bed or the coach and will not get up and walk to his food or anywhere else. He is very frightened to be outside and cries when I take him to go poopy. He has lost interest in everything and he was an extremely active and playful dog before this. The vet has taken x-rays and didnt find anything. He also will not stand on all four legs. He will quickly scoot to the coach and sit there with his head down. Can someone please tell me what is possibly going on with him??? THanks

Help - Baby Goat With Bloat
Posted on 2009/06/27 by UserWe have a 12 week old nubian goat that we have been treating for bloat for 5 days and there has been no change in his condition. We have seen several vets and they keep giving us mixed advice. The poor goat just lays down all day crying and we have tried sodium bicarbonate, mineral oil, cooking oil and massaging and nothing seems to be working. Is there anything else that we can try? He is still able to get up and walk, but he spends almost all day laying down.

My Dog Won't Eat
Posted on 2009/07/05 by UserI have a 14-yr-old shih tzu who has had chronic bronchitis since March. She has been on lots of medications (several antibiotics, aminophylline, prednisone, tussigon). Her appetite has been ok up until this past week. Now she just won't very much of anything. I have tried chicken, ground beef, her favorite biscuits moistened and heated up, her favorite canned food, to no avail. She will maybe eat 4 or 5 bites and then stop. I have finally started giving her NutriCal just because I don't want her to starve. She drinks fine, lots during the day probably because of the prednisone. We did cut her Prednisone in half about a week or so ago, because the vet wants to taper...

Possible Addison's Disease
Posted on 2009/07/06 by UserHello, I was wondering if you could help me. My 12 year old female cocker spaniel Sophie has become very ill whilst I have been away on holiday. She stayed with my sister-in-law but on our return we found she was very lathargic and she has not eaten very much at all. She has not passed any faeces and she has rarely done a wee. Her breathing appears funny, and she is also lethargic & has lost 3kg of her weight. Last night we took her to the emergency vets and she was kept in overnight whilst they ran tests on her. Today she has been to the Vets and they have put her on fluids and want her back in tomorrow to continue testing. They believe she has Addison's...

Paralysis or ?
Posted on 2009/07/09 by UserOur 10 year old little yorkie can't get to her feet this morning. Her hind quarters won't cooperate, when she tries she just lifts up with her front, shakes until exhausted and panting collapses. What are the options? Supporting her hind end outside on lawn...so far she has got to go to the bathroom eaten or drank since last night. We offer her water, but so far she hasn't drank any. I'm worried she's suffering cause she can't go, because she stuggles til she can't anymore. I need to know ......is it time?

lethargic dog
Posted on 2009/07/10 by UserMy almost 8-year old Jack Russell has not been her active self for almost a month now. She has been shaking in pain and very lethargic, also very limited in her movement (back legs stiff, slow moving, not jumping or playing as usual). We have taken her to the vet and she has been on Rimadyl and Clavamox. We did find that she had two infected molars, which were removed. That was a relief, and we figured that was the problem, but her activity has not increased. She had bloodwork and various body x-rays, showing nothing out of the ordinary. Most likely she had the tooth infection for awhile. Is it possible that the infection spread or has affected other areas of her...
