Exercise intolerance

  • I have a 17 year old cat who has shown signs of aging for the past year or so. Last year I had blood work done after he lost a lot of weight and had increased thirst and hunger. All came back normal. Two weeks ago, my cats stomach appeared bloated significantly. I thought it was either constipation or fluid. When I brought him to the vet for an emergency visit, it was confirmed by xray that it is fluid in his abdomen. The problem is that the cause if not known. The vet thinks it could be cancer or kidney disease, but has ruled out heart problems and infectious diseases as my cats remain indoors. I could get an ultrasound done to determine the cause but I don't want to...

  • vet can't find a dx

Our golden has not been himself for about 4 months. He initially started with very bad breath, and lethargy, and fever. I took him to the vet and they sedated him to check his teeth, and saw nothing negative. He was put on antibiotics, and Pepcid. He started getting diarriha so they told me to stop the Pepcid. He got better, but once the antibiotics stopped the symptoms returned. The vet did an xray of the stomach, again negative. He was put on a stronger dose of antibiotics. Again, symptoms returned after he was finished with meds. Vet did stool sample for worms, and again negative, antibiotics were again prescribed but for longer duration. Again, symptoms...

  • our german sheperd dog will be 14 years old this august, and has become lifeless and finds its difficult to walk, sometimes dragging its back legs,he has been deaf for the last year and when he is resting which is all the time,he sounds like he is in pain with the noises he makes, when he cleans himself he often yelps as though he has hurt himself. Is the time come for us to put him to sleep,I dont want to but will it be best ?

  • Sick pet?

I cat is normally very active, almost hyperactive but recently he has been just laying around sleeping and hardly eats. What could be the problem? Should we take him to the vet?

  • My dog (other wise healthy 15 yr old cocker spaniel) has been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Since diagnosis she has been started on 5 mg prednisone and flovent however without relief after at least 4-6 wks. Is there possibly any other meds or suggestions that my give her some relief? Has anyone ever put their dog on home O2?? I have worked with pulmonary patients and cant help but think of helping her with a little portable tank in a backpack. I know it sounds crazy but I cant stand the thought of putting to sleep an otherwise healthy active dog. She is eating and drinking normally and has not given the "sign" that she is "ready to go"...

  • DOG ILLNESS

My dog is vommitting a bright yellow bile. She is stumbling and disorientated. I took her to the vet on Saturday and he gave her 7 day course of tablets and a syringe of a substance for her stomach, her condition has still not improved she has not eaten or drank anything for 3 days, should I wait for improvement or take her back to the vet.

  • Well, Talker's dam(mom) is foundered, and very obese. My farrier said/says that if I feed Talker anymore than 4 flakes (possibly 5 if for riding) & feed her daily grain without riding her, she can possibly founder since she is a Kiger Mustang and that breed usually doesn't live on much in the wild, thier body type(s) can't handle all the food. Is this true, and what should I do to keep her fit & healthy?? I plan on showing her in halter this year, and need supplements, what supplements should I use for her coat & muscle without her foundering. Thanks, ~Journey

We will be going for the surgery even though he is nearly 13, but we don't want him distrest over not getting enough air. Only thing is it's going to cost £2,000. Still we will work it out. Thank you for your time. I will write on here again with Mason's progress. Fingers crossed.

  • Help is it an allergy?

Hi, my name is Alexandria and I am 14 years old. I have a cat named Reeses, and he has been acting wierd lately. He eats more, has gained weight, pulls his fur out and grooms it more than often by his lower back right before his tail. He has occasional diarrhea, scratches more than usual, goes to the bathroom in places like my bed or the floor (which he has never done before), and he is about 3 1/2 years old and between 16 and 18 pounds. My cat also meows non-stop. When you touch his back where he pulls his fur out, he starts to lick or bite somthing, almost like a spasim. Is he allergic to somthing? I need to know because right now we can't afford a vet.
