I heard raw diets help with arthritis. Is this true and are raw diets safe?

Posted on 2008/08/14 by KarieMy 12 yr old sweet ol boy has been feeling really bad, he is lethargic, w0n't sit, only lies on his side. won't walk, eat (only selective foods like a hotdog or a piece of chicken etc.)His bones are starting to show. He has a leaky discharge from his private and the same from his eyes (greenish), It's been a week now and he is no better. He's not throwing up and doesn't seem to be hurting just miserable (but i DON'T KNOW)We do not have the money to take to the vet and I know he is old, I just want to make sure he is not suffering. What should I do? I have been giving him 1 aspirin 2 times a day to help.

7 month old kitten will not run or play after neutering
Posted on 2007/11/27 by LouiseThree weeks post-neuter, 7 month kitten that was once a candidate for ADHD, has not returned to play activity with brother house cat. Almost limping at times. Would there be any metatastic pain to back extremities? Or specific time frame of lethargic behavior?

Persistent diarrhea since Sunday
Posted on 2007/11/29 by UserMy dog has had diarrhea fairly constantly since Sunday morning. She has never had any major illnesses before and we are concerned. She has been to the vet and had blood tests done and has also been put on a drip to try and flush out her system. She continues to have diarrhea. The vet says that her liver is not a concern and, after initial x-ray, there appears to be nothing sinister. My dog still has an appetite. She has been drinking a fair amount of water and her faeces are very loose. There was a small amount of blood in her faeces this morning. Do you have any thoughts on what this could be?

Any ideas as to what is causing pain?
Posted on 2008/03/07 by UserMy Bubbles (pit-hound mix) is 7 years old. Recently she saw our family vet and was given Deramaxx 75mg chewable tab, to be broken in half and given every 24 hours. Since she has taken this her condition has worsened. Our vet told us that she probably has mild arthritis and this should help. Now when she walks she take very tiny "baby steps" on her front legs. She also has been very withdrawn from doing anything at all and would rather lay on our bed all day and all night. she only comes out for water, food and bathroom. We havent been giving her the pills everyday. only when we see that her pain is elevated. We didn't want to have to use pain pills later in...

Updated question and X-ray results
Posted on 2008/03/14 by UserThis is an update to the previous question that I had asked. Our Vet called and had posted Bubbles' X-rays to a website for other vets to look at. They said the Rad's showed no abnormalities and one tiny area where there is arthritis near the tip of her tail. Other than that it all looked great. Since my last question she has started dragging her left hind leg a little bit which prompted the X-rays which were taken on 3/11/08. And when we woke up this morning to give her a morning pain pill we noticed that she is starting to drag her other hind leg as well. Just not as bad as the left side. She has now stopped taking the Deramaxx and is now taking Tramadol 50mg every 8...

Lethargic dog, not eating
Posted on 2008/04/08 by GeoffreyTwo days in a row, listless and lothargic, will not eat(at all) or drink(much...), took to vet who did fecal test and blood test, fecal negative, blood test very, very slightly low sugar, gave a dose, sent some home with me, gave dose at home then one this morn., still listless, will not eat or drink, have changed food twice so far, 1st was "Veterinarians Formula", second was "Royal Cannin", both dry...WHAT SHOULD I DO?
