I have a 16 year ols shitzu, poodle cross and she is showing signs of instability and unsureness on her feet, even where sounds are coming from. Do dogs get alzheimers or dementia? She is otherwise in good health. Sometimes carries on like a 16 yr old person!

after many vet visits she still has not gotten any better. I was told fleas and food allergies but it wasn't either. Just wondering what could be the problem. Someone said it looked like mange.

I took my 14 year old cat to the vet for a horrible ear mite infection and now, four days later, one of her eyes are dilated. The dilated eye is unresponsive to light and light bothers her. This has never happened before. Can you help please.

Posted on 2009/01/15 by Usermy dog is a pomarnian, he shakes his head alot as if his ears are bothering him. been going on for a several months. but never done any thing about it. but did give ear drops in his ears for cleaning and that did not seem to help, well last night 1/14/09 about 11:45pm he was on the bed laying down and in a sudden i felt him stiff up and like he was trying to keep is balance, he was laying on a pillow but soon as i turned the lights on he was still stiff like trying to balance his self, still laying down on pillow and his head was rotaing back in forth slowly. my husband picked him up and held him and was rubbing his back. my dog then acted the same way he did on the...

Smelly ear + one crusty dew pad
Posted on 2009/01/19 by UserMy pomeranian has been sad and lethargic for a few days now, she has a bad smelling ear in one ear (I have cleaned it with a q-tip and vinegar now) but she also has crusty white-ish colored paw pad on just her bottom dew claw pad. I have never noticed this about her before (her paw). Does anyone know anything about this?

Dog vomitting
Posted on 2009/01/20 by UserI have a 2 year old yellow lab and he has been vomitting off and on for the last week or so. Maybe once or twice last week. Almost 2 days ago he vomitted and since then hasnt really drank to much water and hasnt touched his food at all. He has an appointment on next monday but i I am afraid it is to far. Please advise.

Posted on 2009/01/23 by Usermy 12 yr old cocker has an infected ear which he has ripped apart and continues to do so, it smells very bad. he sleeps alot but has also started biting himself and being sick. I been cleaning his ear repeatedly but worried that its not enough?

Hi My dog is 3 years old and maybe once a week in the middle of the night wakes up and consistently shakes her head and scraches her ear and one ear is lower than the other and she looks frustrated and sore. I have given her fea treatments but this still keeps happening. After a couple of hours she will evenually get back to sleep and then will be fine in the morning until another week or so later when it will happen again. I am not sure what it is or what to do. Please help.

vet can't find a dx

I took him to the vet and they sedated him to check his teeth, and saw nothing negative. He was put on antibiotics, and Pepcid. He started getting diarriha so they told me to stop the Pepcid. He got better, but once the antibiotics stopped the symptoms returned. The vet did an xray of the stomach, again negative. He was put on a stronger dose of antibiotics. Again, symptoms returned after he was finished with meds. Vet did stool sample for worms, and again negative, antibiotics were again prescribed but for longer duration. Again, symptoms...
