i think my friends dog is dying. its lost most of its hair and the first layer of its skin in a lot of places. hes covered in scabs and raw skin. hes really sick and doesnt want to eat and hes just laying there and even when he puts his head up he keeps his eyes closed. hes in a lot of pain. and he starts heaving and breathing heavy and i think its death rattles. what can we do? its the middle of the night and we cant even go to a pet hospital because they require a $500 deposit and we dont have it. what can i do?

croaky miaow
Posted on 2008/02/21 by CMy cat lost her miaow a couple of months ago. I took her to the vets who said it could be chronic laryngitis. He gave her an injection and tablets. The miaow came back quite quickly. But now she is sounding hoarse again. What could be the problem?

My kitten has sores around his body and I'm concerned
Posted on 2008/03/04 by JessicaI got my kitten fixed less than a month ago, and since he came back, he has been getting sores on his face, around his mouth, and when he gets these sores, his eyes swell up a bit [not enough to obstruct his vision, but enough to be noticable], and he gets eye discharge. His ears are waxy, and the wax is a dark brown color. He gets sores on his body that resemble psoriasis or excema outbreaks. His fur covers the sores though. The past few days he has had diarrhea and been vomiting on and off, but he has been drinking, and I know he isn't dehydrated, I think he might have tried to eat a plant out in our front yard or something. However, I am worried that it...

raw inside of ears, and scab on upper part of tail, one eye gets infected
Posted on 2008/03/05 by UserWe have taken our Kitty to our local vet a couple of times to get Jasimine checked out...Both times the answer was allergy to the food we were feeding... We have changed food and giving her Duck and Peas (small cans bought at the Vets office) for about 9 weeks now and do not see an improvement. She acts fine and is in good health, except for the sore ears (which she does not complain about or itch) and the scab on the tail. Any ideas ? thanks Karl

scratching ears
Posted on 2008/04/04 by SueI previously wrote about this sweet little cat and her resistance to a new kitten brought into the house; after three months of living on the kitchen table she went to live with my son who pays her a lot of attention but who is gone a lot during the day. After a couple of months she has suddenly started scratching her ears so much that some of the fur has come off. She is also displaying some other new behaviors--chasing her tail, spooking herself, etc. I know the ear scratching might be due to ear mites, but is this possibly a symptom of a cat being left alone too much? She LOVES people (but isn’t so happy with other cats). We saw similar behavior when we first...

Dog has sores on ears
Posted on 2008/04/17 by UserHello, our Maltipoo has just healed from what the vet diagnosed as him having an allegic reaction to some new treats he ate that had carob in them. He had red sores in the outer-inside of his ears. We treated him with prescribed antibiotic drops for about 10 days. They went away. One week and a half has passed and now we have noticed on the inside tips of his ears there are a cluster of what looks like dried-blood color(black-brown)hard to the touch sores?? They are quite thick. I don't want to take him in for another expensive exanmination to be told it's nothing and they'll go away on their own. However obviously I also don't want these to worsen and turn into...
