I just discovered that my dog has been eating the kitty litter. He has been having diareah and this last time there was blood in it. I can't afford to take him to the vet. Is there any thing I can do or will he be ok if I can keep him from the litter? Less important but why would a dog want to eat kitty litter?

Nutritional Advice
Posted on 2008/03/08 by HollyHi. I have 2 cats, an 18 year old persian, and a 12 year old Maine Coon. The Maine coon has diabetes and his weight is now good and his glucose level is now within normal limits. I have been feeding M/D. But my quesion is, my other cat, the 18 year old persian, is eating the same food, and has been having loose stool. I had her on K/D before switching to the M/D for the other cat, not because she had kidney failure, but just for the support. Her stool was fine on that food. My question is, would it be dangerous to feed the diabetic cat the K/D as well? I know the right thing to do would be to separate them for feeding, but in the real world, it's just not really...

rectal bleeding
Posted on 2008/03/28 by PaulaOur 6 month old pit/lab puppy was energetic and acting normal two days ago. I gave her a biscuit (it's a new bag) and two or three hours later she was throwing up. She became listless and completely uninterested in food right away. This came on very suddenly. Now she's having not just bloody diarrhea, but twice so far she has lost at least a half cup of blood, we think from her rectum. What can cause this?

BUt last night I woke up to the awful smell of poop, only to find a pile of liquid diarraha with blood in it. And again this morning she ate only a few bites. I did get her to eat some bread and she did drink lots of water. I dont know if its a belly ache or if it is something more serious. She is acting very...
