  • horse cribbing

I have a horse that is "cribbing", hangs his mouth on the gates and pulling back. What causes this and what can i do to keep him from doing it? Will it keep him from gaining weight the way he is supposed to?

  • Dental chew for diabetic dog

I have an 8 yr old terrier mix who was diagnosed with thrombocytopenia 2 years ago. He subsequently developed diabetes mellitus, then Cushings, and then calcinosis cutis. His diabetes is well controlled with NPH twice a day and a strict diet of only Hill Prescription W/D which is given in 4 feedings. Deviating from this routine results in a spike in his urine glucose. His urine is checked 4 times a day with Clinistix and is always negative if this routine is adhered to. I am looking for a chew treat, preferably with dental benefits, which will not impact his glucose. It seems that most of them include some form of sugar in the flavorings.

  • White Pale Gums

My labrador retriever's gums have some white pale color on them. The white pale spots are not everywhere on his gums though. He also scratches himself a lot. A few days ago he vomited twice. What should I do?

  • sick kitten

Have feral cats here at work 6-8 months old. One of them recently had what we determined from on line sources to be cat flu. We treated him with FCV Protect and Sinu-Rite from PetAlive.com and he was doing much better. About a month later, however, now he seems to have another problem. After gaining all his weight back and being normal, suddenly he's lost a bunch of weight again, fur is all dirty, scruffy, and stained and he is lethargic and keeps croaking out little meows constantly (sounds like he has a sore throat!) He eats food (canned) but i noticed tonite a grinding sound like his teeth are scraping together. I looked in his mouth and his gums and tongue are pale...

  • My Pitbull seems to be itching a lot lately. Head, ears, legs, sides, abdominal, genital. Sometimes he stops and frantically nips at his skin. He chewed an open sore spot at the joint on his back leg. That went away with a pet's antibiotic ointment. On concerned advice from a friend, I changed his food recently, Beneful to Iam's Lamb and Rice for the dry and from Alpo to Pedigree in the canned. Could he have an allergy to the new food? Another concern: His teeth sound like they drag against each other when he closes his mouth. A different friend said that this was common to Pitbulls. Is that true and/or should I have this looked at?

  • Thank you, Jamie!

Thank you Jamie! I see your big guy in your pic! Good lookin' boy! Duke is my first Pitbull and I have to say he's the best dog I've ever had. Smart, fun, and eager to please! I found him in my driveway when he was very small, ribs sticking out and hooowling! Somebody just dropped him off! He was so small, he couldn't have gotten too far. Whatever, their (major) loss. God blessed me that day! Thank you for your help (I think..lol) I was hoping for something simple, but you know how it goes with kids and pets. Hang the cost, just take care of my baby! No lol. I'm out of town right now, but Duke will have an appt with his vet soon after we get back. The other part of...
