My 6 year old lab mix stopped chewing his food and now just gulp it down. For a short period of time I feed him a soft mix, he chokes while eating his food, how do I get him to slow his eating and start chewing his food again? He is feed once a day. He 2 days ago he appeared constipated and yesterday diarrhea, but he was is today and his normal active self.

Marley has been hacking and then throwing up white colored liquid. Is it possible for a dog to have a hair ball or is this something I should be concerned with?

Coughing & vomiting

Hacking/Choking/Coughing
Posted on 2008/10/20 by JoeI have a 7 year old large Chihuahua (18 lbs) who has always been in good health. Yesterday he started hacking and spiting out (not much). He is not vomiting, just hacking up. I checked for an obstruction and don't see one. He hacked on and off through the night and is obviously in some discomfort and as a result is insecure and wants to be held. He is still very active. He ran another dog out of the yard yesterday, so he is not lethargic as might be indicated from something poisonous he ate. Suggestions?

Posted on 2008/10/25 by ronnieyesterday morning samson started coughing & gagging really bad, to the point that he reminds me of a cat trying to cough up a fur ball but nothing comes up.he did it all night last night & is still at it today. I'm afraid he might be getting phnewmonia. what can i give him to help? he's 12 yrs. old.
