  • Time to put him to sleep?

My chocolate lab is 14 and has polyneuropathy in his rear legs. He is on tramadol 100 mg 2x a day and rymadyl 2 x day. He is getting worse, heavy panting, falls often, struggles to rise, but still eats and wants to be where I am. When wil I know?

  • Mongrel having seizures

My dog a mix with a springer and a lab, has these seizure type things that have been getting worse over the past month. We just got him from the SPCA a month ago. He curls up his back and cannot walk. He drools a lot and starts breathing really heavy. He also crys very quietly. And is very disoriented for about 10 minutes. After words he is really tired and loving. I am very worried I am taking him to the vet today.

  • Fainting

Friday, my puppy {Akita} who is about 70 lbs, stands about knee high to me {large boned} he was laying down, got up and put his front paws on the bed to stand up and give us love. He got this blank stare in his eyes and passed out. He also urinated on himself. The whole episode lasted maybe 20-30 secs. He didn't seem to be seizing. We are worried this is a neurological issue. I have had several large dogs and never seen this before. We are stressed over this, due to wanting to breed with our female, but worried about the puppy's health.

  • lameness

Pepper jumped off of our bed about about a week ago.He sounded like he landed a little hard. He was okay the first couple of days except he wouldnt jump on the bed or anything. Then he suddenly stopped walking. He would only drag himself aroun. We carried him to the vet. They did spinal hip and skull xrays, Everything came back normal. They also did bloodwork which was normal. They really have no explanation for what is wrong. They sent him home on prednisone. They said he may walk in a few days or it could be weeks. They just dont know, He does'nt seem to be in any pain and he is very alert. He also eats really well. I have noticed since he has been home he...

  • My brothers dog whom is about 12, has been drinking ALOT of water. Easily 2-4 liters of h2o and is not active. Her nose is completely dry, getting crusty (abnormal 4 her). She pants while lying down. Her eyes look dreary. She hasn't touched her food in days. She is a mut, longish hair, a little smaller than a lab-more squat. She has definitely lost her 'zing'. Could it be her thyroid?? Old age? The house next door was tented, that wouldn't have anything to do with it, would it? She has looked bloated for a while- but was never constipated.

  • 10 minute episode of shaking

  • What killed my cat?

I would apprecieate any ideas on what might have killed my cat of 8 yrs. He was a In and outdoor cat, via a doggy door. Had been all his life. Moved to Okmulgee Oklahoma in 10-05. "Key", his name, absolutely loved his new fenced yard, birds, bunnies etc. Often brining in his "kill" for my purview. He was current on all preventative shots. On late eve of June 6th,06, I found him extrememly lethargic. Time was after midnight, I thought I wait till morning. In the morning he was almost comatose. Took him to a nearby vet, the front desk person said that she didn't feel that much could be done, but when the attending vet returned I would get a phone call. Until the vet...
