  • nuetering

Yesterday, I reluctantly had my dog nuetered. I brought him in at 8:30 am and went to pick him up at 5:30pm that afternoon. When they brought him out, he was still somewhat out of it. I even questioned whether he knew me or not. He had been through a lot and I just assumed he would snap out of it later in the night That he just needed more time to recover. The tech, at the last minute of me ready to take him, looked concerned and checked his gums for color then wanted the dr to check him one last time to be sure he was ok before I left. Well, he did and found he was bleeding internally as his gums were white. He told me thank god that the tech noticed this as he...

  • Odd clear fluid

Background: My 17 yr old cat has been ill for over a year. The vets said a few months ago there was nothing left to do, but make her comfortable. A sonegram from Jan 2007 showed a black mass on her intestine (don't rememberif it was the large one or the small one), but she was too fragil to handle a biopsy. Therefore, the diagnosis was only a guess: Either Lymphoma, OR a bad case of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. My question to you relates to an incident yesterday morning: She was having a drink of water and suddenly let out a loud, AWFUL moan, and fell over. While laying on her side, a large GUSH of clear, odorless fluid came pouring out of her butt. I know it was coming...

  • Illness

I have had a stray mixed breed outside dog for 6 years. I estimate his age to be 7 or 8 years. Yesterday he appeared to be fine - playing, eating and normal behaviour. Last night I noticed he was limping - which has progressed to both front and back legs stiff and weak. I have manipulted his leges looking for muscle soreness broken bones, sores or bites. I found nothing. Neither did he appear to be botherd by my checking. I kept him inside last night (which is something he generally does not tolerate) and he appears to be worse this morning. he was lethargic but also moved around quite a bitlike he was trying to get comfortable. He ate a little this morning and...

  • collapse

Collie/shepard mix 12 yrs. old stopped eating last four meals. She takesProin 50mg. 2x a day,Famotidine 20mg.(1/2 tbl.) 2x a day,and Estradiol 1mg. 1x wkly. She continues to take her pills but is suddenly having incontinence again today. Tonight she was going out to potty and suddenly fell to her side, she seemed out of it and shortness of breath. After what felt like an eternity she got up and went potty and came back in and laid down. Could this have been fainting from not eating, or something more serious? Suggestions?

  • Weakness

My dog Lizzy is a Sharpei/bassett mix. She is 5 years old and overweight. She's had trouble recently being able to jump up on the bed and getting up the back steps. I've put her on weight control dog food. Yesterday we took a short walk (about a mile) and I could tell she was having a hard time at the end. Last night and this morning she could barely stand up and her hind legs were shaking. Could it be something else is the problem or simply she is not in good shape?

  • I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. Barney is 2 years old he is a miniature Pekingese. On February the 14th he was brought into the vets. His first symptoms was his back legs gave way. then he lost all the energy and was lying down like a dead dog. His temperature was 104 f and the vets said that was very high . they got him on a drip and took blood from him, they couldn't find nothing and they got his temperature down and he was looking in good health again. only one thing they found was a high white blood cell.. but they have ruled out cancer. Barney was let out of the vets a few days later with the antibiotics, hoping it would take his unknown virus...
