Two days ago my I noticed my cat had a little discharge (white colored) coming out of his left eye. It didn't really look like a big deal until I noticed it was there the second day. Then I got worried. His behavior is normal, although he has been a little more needy lately, but other than that he seems fine. His eye doesn't look infected, but he does shut it slightly every now and then, mainly at night or in the morning. I didn't want to take any chances so I tied to take him to the vet today. But on the way there he started freaking out and panting like a dog. I tried to comfort him by talking to him and petting him, hoping that would kind of calm him down, but his...

runny/stuffy nose
Posted on 2008/05/12 by LidenMy golden retriever, 18 months, has a runny stuffy nose. He has been licking his nose so much he has irritated the skin between his nose and mouth. When he sleeps you can hear the snot bubbling in his nose. He is not coughing or sneezing, just trying to snort the snot out. He is eating normally, plays normally, poops normally. HIs eyes are clear and his ears are clean. Any ideas? My other dog, an older golden, is not showing any symptoms after four days so I assume it is not contagious.

Symptoms from vaccination?
Posted on 2008/05/25 by KimWe adopted a 10 week old kittens yesterday (5/24/08) from the local humane society. He had a distemper shot on 5/16/08 and tested negetive for feline luekemia. He was neutered on 5/23/08 without complications. Yesterday, (5/24/08)he was sneezing occassionally. Today, his sneezing is more frequent with occasional discharge and his eyes are watery. He is eating well and playing, but sneezing a lot and seems a little wheezy, though he is breathing through his nose, not his mouth. As it is a holiday weekend, I'm concerned about waiting until Tues. (5/27/08) to contact a vet. If this is, however, something that should be addressed immediately, I'd like to know so that...

Quick and bizarre death
Posted on 2008/05/30 by RichardsMy 15 month old miniature piebald dachsund recently died. We let him out before bed with our labrador to go to the bathroom. When I went to let back in, he didn't come. We found him out in back yard heaving. Brought him in and he was having a hard time breathing but kept trying to vomit and had a little diarrhea. My husband stayed up until 3:00am, to make sure he was going to be o'kay and he wagged his tail and seemed to be doing much better. I found him at 6:00 am and he was dead. What could have happened? He never had a big appetite and would do this hacking cough everynow and then. A couple of times, while growing up, I noticed he would heave and seemed to...

Posted on 2008/08/14 by KarieMy 12 yr old sweet ol boy has been feeling really bad, he is lethargic, w0n't sit, only lies on his side. won't walk, eat (only selective foods like a hotdog or a piece of chicken etc.)His bones are starting to show. He has a leaky discharge from his private and the same from his eyes (greenish), It's been a week now and he is no better. He's not throwing up and doesn't seem to be hurting just miserable (but i DON'T KNOW)We do not have the money to take to the vet and I know he is old, I just want to make sure he is not suffering. What should I do? I have been giving him 1 aspirin 2 times a day to help.

Cat emergency
Posted on 2008/09/10 by UserMy ten-year old grey tabby cat just threw up about an hour ago. Since then she's been lethargic. She's panting, her eyes are dialated and sometimes they roll back in her head. She also tips over easily. What could be causing this?
